California Greenworks is a registered 501 c 3 organization who primary mission is to improve the quality of life in urban communities through environmental education and implementation of sustainable community-based restoration and neighborhood revitalization projects and programs that promote green space, eliminate urban blight and advocate for green jobs creation and economic development.

2. Del Rey Lagoon Community Based
Restoration Project
 About California Greenworks
Founded Jan 2002. We are a registered
501 (c ) 3 non-profit organization. Our
mission focuses on environmental
education and restoring revitalizing
urban open space.
 Proposed Project Elements
With a community based approach, this
project seeks to restore this historical
facility to offer educational
opportunities for this and surrounding
community, introducing new native
vegetations to this coastal water body,
improving bird and wildlife habitat and
creating educational connections to the
lagoon and the ecology of this area.

3. Hyde Park Blvd Tree Planting Project
Our vision of “Greening Communities one
Starts with improving
neighborhood areas by
Neighborhood at a time
creating much-needed
green space while
eliminating urban blight
with just the simple act of
planting a Tree.
Although some habits are
hard to break; we believe
by engaging
residents, youth and
students through simple
acts such as planting a
tree is a step in the right
direction. When there is
a Tree; there is a sense of
place, ownership and
community pride.
This is a phased project
which will extend into
2014. We plan to plant 200
trees in this community
starting with 30 trees this
year.

4. WaterLinks Watershed
Education Program
Program goals
• Program is a 4 week science based learning
curriculum which teaches 5th grade students
about the importance conserving and
protecting our waterways.
• This project helps urban students
understand their roles in connecting the
urban streams to the confluences of the
waterway leading into the ocean.
• Students gain an understanding about the
watersheds and importance of protection
them
• Students learn about various marine life
which can be effected by pollution
• Students will gain on hands experience in
water sampling
• Students participate in local field trip to
either a marina or discovery park to gain
further learning experiences about their
watershed.

5. Degnan Blvd
Streetscape
Solution
• Greening Degnan Blvd. project
offers an opportunities to create
sustainable and ecological
benefits: including adding to the
urban forest that filters our air and
reducing heat zones within the
urban centers and reducing
carbon depletions through the
benefit of planting trees.
• The Degnan Blvd. Greening
Project would extend Leimert
Village’s defining intimacy to the
entire street into the park space.
• The potential opportunity to
create much needed green space
also creates walking benefits for
new customers visiting this
historic district promoting both
health consciousness and
business.
• Finally, this project will abate old
and evasive trees and re-plant new
lower profile trees allowing
visibility on the street and stores.
• And by providing more lighting
for patrons by day lighting the
streets.

6. Ecology Center Park
This project is a collaboration
between (NOMA) National
Organization of Minority
Architects Los Angeles Chapter
and California Greenworks, Inc.
which proposes to:
• Educate the public on best
practices for green building
construction technology.
• Teach youth about urban
ecology and various forms of
plant and aquatic life.
• Offer environmental education
programs taught by local NGOs
to urban students.
• Provide satellite educational
linkage to local colleges and
Universities i.e. LMU, USC,
UCLA
• Offer field experience for
science, public policy and urban
planning oriented students.

7. Stocker Trail Ingold
Park Ramp Connection
• CGW proposed elevated design offers the
creation of a pedestrian-friendly trail with
direct connectivity to Stocker Street and Los
Angeles County Ruben Ingold Park.
• Design and implementation of a landscape
plan that incorporates site-specific measures
for enhancing and creating a greenway with
native trees, plants and bio-swales to allow
infiltration and detention of storm water
runoff. The landscaping will enhance wildlife
habitat and user experience of Stocker Trail as
a greenway.
• Ramp will offer opportunities for hikers to
rest along the pathway and observe nature
with observation station located at various
levels.
• Selection and installation of benches along
the trail path and decomposed granite surface.
• Development of a trail management program
and identification of responsibilities for long-
term management and maintenance similar to
Adopt a Trail.

8. 2012 EarthFestLA TM
a concert for the environment is California
Greenworks, Inc. premier annual event to support
environmental education in public schools and
promote public awareness for its urban initiatives
including increasing open space opportunities for
low income communities. This event is a
collaboration of environmental and health agencies
to raise awareness for both the environment and
health related issues within urban communities. Our
goal is to create a fun learning environment for our
attendees. EarthFestLA TM began in 2006 in Watts,
California as “SouthLA EarthFest” and has continued
to bring families out to enjoy the music, attractions
and celebrate environmental stewardship.
The 7th Annual EarthFestLA TM Concert & Expo
will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012, at West
Los Angeles College - a 70-acre, newly transformed
campus with park-like landscaping and scenic views.
The event will include musical entertainment,
festival activities, and educational materials.
Past performers have included: 3 Grammy award
winner guitarist Paul Brown and Jesse J, DW3,
Something Smooth, Jazz and R&B Singer Wendy
Moten, Jazz Experiment Saxman Darren Rahn,
guitarist Chris Lightfoot and many others.
