Stained Glass Shape and  Color By Marie Max-Fritz Grade: KINDERGARTEN 2010
WHAT AM I?
WHAT COLORS DO YOU SEE?
WHAT SHAPES DO YOU  SEE?
NAME THE SHAPES AND COLORS.
Goal:     Students will produce stained glass models . Objective: 1.	Students will improve cognitive skills by interpreting narrative stories  2.	Students will improve motor skills by line drawing  3.	Students will improve motor skills by applying color 4.	Students will improve understanding affect of  color interplay        Students will create a stained glass image Resources: Power point Samples of stained glass Materials: Clear contact paper String glue Markers Pre-formed shapes or shape templates Paper frames colored tissue paper pieces  Teacher Preparation power-point presentation color exemplars for each table pre-ut 2 paper frames per child pre-cut  clear contact paper to fit frame window Peel off sticky cover from contact paper (set aside) attach contact paper to one frame each  re-adhere sticky cover to prepared framed window supply each work space with required material
Directions: 1.	Trace shapes onto multi-colored paper(s) from pre-formed shapes or templates. 2.	Cut the shapes out with scissors. 3.	Peel the sticky cover off the framed widow. 4.	Attach shapes and overlap to cover all areas of windows. 5.	Glue back side of frame onto window. 6.	Decorate frame and add lines or images to colored picture windows.   Extension: 	Students can attach yarn or string to hang artwork (with teacher's help).  Vocabulary Medieval- era between the years AD 1300 -AD 1500 Rosette- circular stained glass window Rondel- a circular picture Icon- a character or person of symbolic importance Safety Concerns: none
