During her more than two decades of dedicated service to clients, Anne L. Meyers has been an invaluable legal and business resource to small and middle market businesses, with particular emphasis in the surety, insurance and construction industries. She is intimately familiar and conversant with the “nuts and bolts” involved in most construction disputes, such as performance schedules, scope of work, change orders, unforeseen conditions, design vs. construction defects, payment terms and other recurring issues, and she has represented contractors, subcontractors, project managers, architects, project owners, investors and sureties. Ms. Meyers is equally comfortable and adept advising clients on general business matters including personnel, business financing, regulatory compliance, mergers, acquisition and sales, labor and employment law, and business succession planning. She founded the firm in 1995 and has managed its considerable growth since then. She has served as outside general counsel for a publicly traded company during a period of dramatic growth through acquisitions and also spent several years early in her career as an attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. A versatile attorney known for her pragmatism, innate business sense and negotiating skill, Ms. Meyers’ ability to favorably resolve construction disputes without resorting to litigation is partly attributable to her being “on the other side” – as a part-owner and principal of a construction material supply company, a surety company and an adjusting company – early in her career. She possesses the ability, rare among attorneys, to find her way around a job site legally, physically and business-wise. She is a trained mediator, has had extensive experience as a participant in dozens of mediations in many jurisdictions and has acted as an informal mediator in a number of matters. Anne L. Hirth’s passion for trial litigation, with an emphasis on business and employment disputes and white-collar criminal defense, spans nearly three decades, during which he has served as head of the litigation department at Eaton Corporation and as the chair of the litigation department at a well-known Cleveland law firm. • 23. Anne L. Meyers, Managing Partner

  • 32. Alan N. Hirth’s passion for trial litigation, with an emphasis on business and employment disputes and white-collar criminal defense, spans nearly three decades, during which he has served as head of the litigation department at Eaton Corporation and as the chair of the litigation department at a well-known Cleveland law firm. He views his role as “standing between the client and harm’s way” and reminds his clients that “litigation resolves disputes far more often than it promotes justice.” He believes that understanding the reasons a client chooses to pursue litigation is critical to selecting a reasonable objective under the particular facts and circumstances. Mr. Hirth attributes his successes to “out-preparing and outworking the other side” and to “winning the hearts of a jury as well as their minds.” He has refined his craft by carefully studying successful trial lawyers and other persuasive speakers. Mr. Hirth finds trial work rewarding largely because, in his words, “when it’s over, you know the score.” Mr. Hirth has tried lawsuits in Ohio, New York, Florida, California, Louisiana, Michigan, Texas, Illinois and Connecticut. He graduated second in his class from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law and earned his undergraduate degree at City College of New York.   Alan N. Hirth Co-Chair, Litigation Group
