We will  break down the residency  into four small “ teachable ”  parts, the  LESSONS . Each lesson (  ) should be about 45 minutes long. Today…

To plan a sequence of lessons… We  scaffold the objectives  to enable all students to  build on their previous knowledge .

We  distribute  the  objectives  throughout the  four days  in a  sequence  that takes in consideration the  students’ prior knowledge , the  lesson time , and  what can be realistically accomplished.
The first lesson is the base of the scaffold.

From lesson one, we raise the scaffold…
To raise the scaffold, we  select  from the residency plan the  objectives  and  assessments   for each of the four lessons.

It is time to develop instructional  activities  to  help students master the objectives.  Again, we consider the  students’ prior knowledge  and  what can be realistically accomplished  at the  available time.
At this point, we may consider changing the distribution of objectives/assessment among lessons to  make sure students have enough time to complete  the  activities.
