MITF+AC Presentation: Supporting and Encouraing Innovations in Agriculture

Notas do Editor

  1. Welcome. We support and encourage innovations in the Food System. So what I want to do today is tell you about some of the areas I think about the food system – told through the eyes of a competition. only a quick snapshot of what we’ve been working on – and what’s developed as a result. And where the future goes.
  2. History of the competition
  3. Tools and methods – a simple corn sheller, to a new irrigation system. There’s a lot of variables to consider in that improving the quality of well-being. That’s affordability. Simplicity. Effectiveness. Storage. Processing.
  4. Information systems. Market prices. Demand for products. Open Source Ecology.
  5. Education
  6. Peanut Revolution – a team that entered in 2006. that took a hand sheller peanut – and a made it more a pedal powered tool to increase the efficiency.
  7. SolSource in 2008 – to help western Chinese nomads and farmers convert from cement-based stove to a transportable solar stove – that was better for the environment.
  8. Teams enetringthis year. X amount of teams. In lots of areas.Maa-Bara – Shayna, Grain Mill, ZacaTech.
  9. One of the ways – we’re encouraging even more innovations to take place. FarmHack@ MIT – what we’d like to do more of.
