5. Project Description
• The goal of this assignment is to supply cordless Internet accessibility to all
students as well as company visitors using the Laboratory provided shuttle bus
service.
• The primary problem of this assignment will be to set up cordless technology on
the buses without adversely affecting shuttle service.
• The preferred result of this assignment is to enhance output for students,
experts, as well as Laboratory workers when they travel on Laboratory shuttles.
Measurable Organizational Value (MOV)
• The main way of measuring value for this assignment will be in enhancing usage
of Laboratory shuttle buses. The inclusion of cordless Internet will motivate broader
use of Laboratory transport as well as improve parking overcrowding. The
additional worth of staff output when using shuttle services will be hard to quantify,
however worker satisfaction with the betterment may be surveyed as well as
utilized to further evaluate the organizational achievement of this project.
Project Scope
• All of 16 passenger automobiles in the Berkeley Laboratory motor-pool will be
fitted with cordless access points to offer Internet service to travelers. This includes
the ten shuttle buses as well as six passenger vehicles presently operating onsite.
• Laboratory owned cars, long-term use vehicles, as well as electric automobiles
will not be fitted with cordless access points. The scope of this assignment is not to
offer wireless Internet to the Lab, just to provide working access on passenger
transport automobiles.
