Lino Tagliapietra is one of the most prominent contemporary glass artists born on the island of Murano, Italy, known for its glass production since 1291. He was sent for training at age 11 to work with glass master Archimede Seguso. By age 21, he became a maestro himself. In 1968, he met Dale Chihuly and in 1979 went to teach glass art in the U.S., where he collaborated with American artists. Lino Tagliapietra's work has won numerous international awards and is featured in many major museums worldwide.
