3. A LIFESTYLE
The ethos of AMAN is founded in simple luxury, afforded by an exceptional location
harmoniously blended with a unique environment. The result is a selection of contem-
porary and finely-tuned resorts that offer an enriching, enlightening and rewarding
lifestyle experience. This lifestyle is about a lust for faraway places, a fascination with
foreign cultures, a desire to escape and relax in surrounds that satisfy and please on all
levels, an encounter with nature at her finest and a world apart from everyday life,
where needs are met before they are even acknowledged.
It is Aman’s understanding of this discerning appetite and a deep appreciation of
the creative and elegant that bring kindred spirits to AMANRESORTS and make the
ownership or rental experience of an AMAN VILLA truly rewarding.
While Aman resorts offer all the privacy, luxury and relaxation guests could desire,
Aman Villas take things to an entirely different level. Situated adjacent to a number of
Aman resorts around the world – from Thailand to Indonesia, the Caribbean to the
Philippines – the villas are the ultimate tier in terms of Aman accommodation options,
offering all the services and facilities of the resort in consummate privacy. They also enable
families and friends to holiday together, with the obvious benefits of a personal cook,
live-in maid and concierge service. The ideal venues for family gatherings and events such
as weddings or meetings, Aman Villas also offer owners and guests unlimited access to
all the facilities and services of the Aman resort. This ensures a home-away-from-home
experience with every possible convenience – from spas and tennis courts to restaurants
and libraries – on the side.
These gracious villa homes are available for rent through Amanresorts, and, in a number
of destinations, for purchase. Ideal for those wishing to rent a piece of paradise for an
incredible vacation or own a holiday destination for a lifetime’s worth of enjoyment,
Aman Villas and the international clientele that purchase and enjoy Aman’s villa homes
around the world constitute a community like no other. Not surprisingly, Aman Villas
are rarely offered for resale.

4. Clichés abound when it comes to describing the ideal island
getaway. The vast archipelago known as the Philippines is
where they come true. The beaches are powder white, the seas
turquoise blue and the sun rarely leaves the azure sky – except
when replaced at night by a myriad of stars.
An archipelago of more than 7,100 islands, the Philippines can
be divided into four groups: Luzon, the largest and northern-
most island, is the site of the capital, Manila. At the other end
of the archipelago is the second largest island, Mindanao. The
tightly-packed island group in between is known as theVisayas,
while off to the west lies the province of Palawan. Palawan
incorporates 1,768 islands, one of which is Pamalican.
Surrounded by seven square kilometres of coral reef and the
balmy waters of the Sulu Sea,Pamalican is home toAmanpulo,
‘place of peace’. Launched in 1993 and located 289 kilometres
south of Manila (a one-hour flight), Amanpulo embraces
the 90-hectare island in its entirety. As a result, the resort’s
facilities enjoy a spacious layout, complementing their natural
surroundings and offering guests a serene and peaceful escape.

lounge chairs. This is the tranquil setting for Amanpulo’s Beach
Club, which specialises in seafood and tapas served at tables on
the beach or the elevated wooden terrace.
Located on the eastern side of the island, the Lagoon Club offers
similar amenities to the Beach Club, but focuses on Vietnamese
fare for dinner. Other dining venues include the Windsurf Hut

ideally suited to nature lovers. A walk on the beach around the
island’s 51/2-kilometre circumference takes about 90 minutes,and
there are a number of bush paths and two modest hills to explore.
From their heights at high tide, baby sharks chasing baitfish are
sometimes seen in the shallows at Pamalican’s southern tip.Guests
can also explore the island by bike, and four floodlit tennis courts
are available. It is in and on the water however, that Amanpulo
truly comes into its own.
Adjacent to the Beach Club, the Sea Sports Hut offers a variety
of water sports equipment including windsurfers, kayaks and
snorkelling equipment. The Kawayan Bar (below) is a bamboo raft
that floats just offshore, providing the ideal spot for lounging in
the sun or snorkelling the reef below. The Dive Centre is located
on the northwest side of the island and provides access to the
region’s exceptional dive sites for novice and experienced divers
alike. The brilliant blue waters of the Sulu Sea are superb cruising
grounds. Amanpulo keeps a variety of boats for island hopping,
fishing and lazy-day sailing.

• Manamoc Island: Across from
Pamalican, this island offers
excellent snorkelling and beautiful
views from the top of Mt. English

on the island. Amanpulo maintains
the Mangrove Hut on Manamoc –
the ideal venue for a picnic.
WILDLIFE

turtles are hatching, Amanpulo
guests are invited to watch their
release back into the sea.
