SimpleTest, now called 'Testing' in Drupal 7 core, allows developers to write automated tests to ensure code quality and catch bugs. It helps speed up the development lifecycle with a test-driven approach. Administrators can run all or individual tests from the Testing admin page to validate modules. The document provides setup and usage instructions for SimpleTest and encourages incorporating testing into the development workflow.
