The target audience for the magazine is young people aged 15-26 who enjoy alternative rock and indie music. They tend to watch shows like The Big Bang Theory and listen to bands like Linkin Park. The magazine aims to attract this audience by featuring the types of bands and content they want, using young models on the cover, and having an informal tone in the writing.

• The audience for my magazine would be young people
between the ages of 15- 26.
• Although my magazine is not specifically aimed at men,
the genre of music is usually more masculine so the
main readership would most likely still be male.
• The target audience is into alternative rock and indie
music and tend to stand out from the crowd instead of
conforming to mainstream.

• My target audience of 15- 26 would often watch shows such as:-
The Big Bang Theory, Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother and Skins.
• They would enjoy films such as:- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,
American Pie, Kick Ass and The Dark Knight.
• They use websites such as:- YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, MSN and
eBay.
• They would listen to bands such as:- Linkin Park, Lostprophets,
Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, System of a Down and Godsmack.
• They would enjoy activities such as:- Playing instruments, sport,
hanging out with friends, listening to music and reading.

3. 5.) How did you attract/address your audience?
• Prior to creating my magazine, I used a questionnaire to find out the
type of bands and features that people wanted to be featured in my
magazine.
• I used young models of a similar age to the target audience so the
audience could easily relate to them.
• I used a limited colour scheme to appeal to the audience without
looking too much like the more colourful pop genre. The main
colours I used were black, red and dark blue because they are dark
colours to represent the genre.
• Informal chatty language is used to appeal to target audience of
young people, eg. “whatever else you lot send us”.
• Serif font looks more gothic and attracts the target audience well
because it represents the genre.

This is the result of the questionnaire. The majority of
people surveyed like to read interviews, reviews and
news. I made sure to include these in the coverlines and
contents listing and my double page spread was an
interview with a member of a band because it would
appeal to my target audience.
