1. NESA UGRAD:
*For high school seniors or university students wanting to study at an American university.

The Near East and South Asia Undergraduate Exchange Program, or NESA UGRAD, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State,
provides outstanding Moroccan students ages 18-25 with the opportunity to pursue one academic year of undergraduate studies at
an American university. NESA UGRAD is not a degree program. It is an academic challenge, a cultural immersion and the perfect
stepping stone to future graduate studies in the USA. Download the application form from the Embassy
Applicants MUST be:
• a citizen, national or permanent resident qualified to hold a valid passport issued by the country from which the applicant is
applying;
• completing his/her final year of secondary school or enrolled in first-, second-, third-year full-time undergraduate study at the time
of application at a registered academic institution in his/her country and is in good academic standing. Part-time students or
correspondence students are not eligible;
• full-time students and in good academic standing;
• between the ages of 18-25;
• able to begin the academic exchange program in the United States in August 2014;
• able to receive and maintain a J-1 visa;
• committed to returning to their home country after completion of the program;
• proficient in spoken and written English at the time of application.
Students from diverse backgrounds and/or underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a
desire to engage with U.S. communities and to participate in community service activities.
2. Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program:
*One year of high-school study in the United States for students ages 14-17

Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides scholarships for
Moroccan high school students to spend one academic year in the United States.
Scholarship recipients live with host families, attend U.S. high schools, and participate in special enrichment activities that include
community service, youth leadership training, a civics education program, and other activities that help them develop a
comprehensive understanding of American culture and develop leadership skills. Likewise, these students serve as cultural
ambassadors for their home countries, representing their own rich heritage to their American host communities.
The program supports students with disabilities and encourages their participation.
Kennedy-Lugar YES scholarships cover all major expenses, including airfare, room and board, health insurance, pocket money, and
educational supplies.
3. African Leadership Academy Scholarship:
*For high school students/leaders wanting to study in South Africa.

Two Year Pre-University Program:
Each year, we identify young leaders between the ages of 15-19 from across the continent with demonstrated leadership potential, a
passion for Africa, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a track record of community service. These impressive leaders undergo an
innovative two-year program designed to prepare each student for a lifetime of leadership in Africa. ALA delivers world-class
instruction with the foundational Cambridge International Examination (CIE) curriculum, and our flagship program, comprising:
Leadership, Entrepreneurship and African Studies. Students are selected to attend the Academy based on merit alone. A student’s
ability to pay tuition is not a factor in admissions decisions.
Gap-Year Program:
ALA has a unique and exciting gap-year program. Students will get immersed in our flagship Entrepreneurial Leadership and African
Studies program; they design and deliver a service-based learning program; and complete a guided final capstone project.
Global Scholars Program:
The Global Scholars Program (GSP) at African Leadership Academy is an intensive, three-week, global leadership summer program

4. Between the Lines: The Writing Experience:
*2 week writing workshop for students ages 16-19 at the University of Iowa

“Between The Lines: the Writing Experience” is a two-week residency program at the University of Iowa from June 22-July 8, 2014,
with two days of additional programming in Chicago. The young writers will be immersed in the creative writing culture of the U.S.
Program activities will include writing workshops in English and Arabic, seminars on literary topics. At the culmination of the program,
the students’ writings in both English and Arabic will be published in a booklet to be used for educational purposes.
5. Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE) Opportunities:

1. The International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP)

The International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) brings outstanding secondary school teachers of English, math, science and

social studies from the Near East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Western Hemisphere to the United
States to further develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United
States. ILEP teachers participate in a five month academic program at U.S. university graduate schools of education.
ILEP teachers will participate in a five month academic program at U.S. university graduate schools of education that includes
coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and the use of technology for education.
ILEP includes subject-specific strategies for teachers in the disciplines of math, science, social studies and English as a foreign or
second language. The program lasts for one semester (five months) and includes an internship at a U.S. secondary school to
actively immerse participants in an American classroom.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
• Secondary-level, full-time teachers with five or more years of classroom experience in disciplines including English, English as a
Foreign Language, Social Studies, Mathematics, or Science.
• Citizens of one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco,
Philippines, Senegal, Uganda.
• Proficient in written and spoken English with a TOEFL score of 500 or higher.
Former participants of ILEP, TEA, Partners in Education (PiE) or the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program may not apply. If you
have participated in other programs funded by the U.S. government, please talk to the Fulbright Commission/US Embassy in your
country about your eligibility.
2. The Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA)
*For secondary school teachers with knowledge of the English language

Provides outstanding secondary school teachers of English, social studies, math and science with unique opportunities to develop
expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States.
Teachers come to the United States from all world regions for a six-week academic program at a U.S. university graduate school of
education, including intensive training in teaching methodologies, lesson planning, teaching strategies for their home environment,
teacher leadership, and the use of instructional technologies. The program also includes field experience at a secondary school to
engage participants with American teachers and students.
All applicants must:
• Be secondary-school-level, full-time teachers with five or more years of classroom experience in TEA teaching disciplines: EFL,
social studies, mathematics or science.
• Have proficiency in written and spoken English with a TOEFL score of 450 or equivalent
3. TECH WOMEN
* 5 week program for University graduates with two years full-time professional experience in technology sectors and/or a
career requiring significant expertise/knowledge of technology and/or innovative application of these skills; and who is proficient in
written and spoken English.

TechWomen empowers the next generation of women leaders in the technology field by bringing together women in Northern
California with their counterparts in the Middle East, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa for a professional mentorship and
exchange program at leading technology companies.
The TechWomen initiative identifies emerging leaders with expertise in technology to attend a five-week program that includes
project-based mentorships at leading companies in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. The women also attend
workshops, networking events, a conference, and meetings in Washington, D.C.
Participants are women in professional careers that require significant knowledge of, and skill in technology. “Technology” should be
interpreted broadly to include – but not be limited to – the fields of science, education, and business.

4. The Community Solutions Program
*4 month program for community leaders proficient in the English language.

A professional development program for the best and brightest global community leaders working in the fields of transparency and
accountability, tolerance and conflict resolution, environmental issues and women’s issues. Community Solutions provides fourmonth-long fellowships at U.S. community-based non-profit or other organizations, government offices or legislative bodies. Fellows
will work with community leaders to enhance their practical expertise, leadership skills and professional contacts to address societal
issues in their home communities.
Participants must:

Be community leaders, ages 25-38, currently working on a community engagement initiative in their home countries;
Have at least two years of professional experience in this capacity at the time of application;
Be proficient in spoken and written English at the time of application;
Be from one of the participating countries.

5. Atlas Corps:
*For association members or community leaders with 2-10 years experience.

Atlas Corps facilitates overseas fellowships for the best of the world's rising leaders. They volunteer at outstanding organizations
addressing social issues and are enrolled in an ongoing training program. After 12 or 18 months, they return to their countries to work
for at least one year (and usually their entire career) back in the nonprofit sector, sharing new skills, best practices, valuable
experiences and a global network of changemakers.

NESA UGRAD: *For high school seniors or university students wanting to study at an American university. Website: www.nesaugrad.org The Near East and South Asia Undergraduate Exchange Program, or NESA UGRAD, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides outstanding Moroccan students ages 18-25 with the opportunity to pursue one academic year of undergraduate studies at an American university. NESA UGRAD is not a degree program. It is an academic challenge, a cultural immersion and the perfect stepping stone to future graduate studies in the USA. Download the application form from the Embassy Applicants MUST be: • a citizen, national or permanent resident qualified to hold a valid passport issued by the country from which the applicant is applying; • completing his/her final year of secondary school or enrolled in first-, second-, third-year full-time undergraduate study at the time of application at a registered academic institution in his/her country and is in good academic standing. Part-time students or correspondence students are not eligible; • full-time students and in good academic standing; • between the ages of 18-25; • able to begin the academic exchange program in the United States in August 2014; • able to receive and maintain a J-1 visa; • committed to returning to their home country after completion of the program; • proficient in spoken and written English at the time of application. Students from diverse backgrounds and/or underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a desire to engage with U.S. communities and to participate in community service activities. 2. Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program: *One year of high-school study in the United States for students ages 14-17 Website: http://yesprograms.org/country/morocco Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides scholarships for Moroccan high school students to spend one academic year in the United States. Scholarship recipients live with host families, attend U.S. high schools, and participate in special enrichment activities that include community service, youth leadership training, a civics education program, and other activities that help them develop a comprehensive understanding of American culture and develop leadership skills. Likewise, these students serve as cultural ambassadors for their home countries, representing their own rich heritage to their American host communities. The program supports students with disabilities and encourages their participation. Kennedy-Lugar YES scholarships cover all major expenses, including airfare, room and board, health insurance, pocket money, and educational supplies. 3. African Leadership Academy Scholarship: *For high school students/leaders wanting to study in South Africa. 1

These impressive leaders undergo an innovative two-year program designed to prepare each student for a lifetime of leadership in Africa. ALA delivers world-class instruction with the foundational Cambridge International Examination (CIE) curriculum, and our flagship program, comprising: Leadership, Entrepreneurship and African Studies. Students are selected to attend the Academy based on merit alone. A student’s ability to pay tuition is not a factor in admissions decisions. Gap-Year Program: ALA has a unique and exciting gap-year program. Students will get immersed in our flagship Entrepreneurial Leadership and African Studies program; they design and deliver a service-based learning program; and complete a guided final capstone project. Global Scholars Program: The Global Scholars Program (GSP) at African Leadership Academy is an intensive, three-week, global leadership summer program for a select group of secondary school students from across the world. ILEP teachers participate in a five month academic program at U.S. university graduate schools of education. ILEP teachers will participate in a five month academic program at U.S. university graduate schools of education that includes coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and the use of technology for education. ILEP includes subject-specific strategies for teachers in the disciplines of math, science, social studies and English as a foreign or second language. The program lasts for one semester (five months) and includes an internship at a U.S. secondary school to actively immerse participants in an American classroom. The program also includes field experience at a secondary school to engage participants with American teachers and students. The TechWomen initiative identifies emerging leaders with expertise in technology to attend a five-week program that includes project-based mentorships at leading companies in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. The women also attend workshops, networking events, a conference, and meetings in Washington, D.C. Community Solutions provides fourmonth-long fellowships at U.S. community-based non-profit or other organizations, government offices or legislative bodies. Fellows will work with community leaders to enhance their practical expertise, leadership skills and professional contacts to address societal issues in their home communities.
