Wireless mesh network
        All modules communicate with each
        other in the Plugwise network.
        Additionally, each module functions
        as a router.

A switching command to a certain
        plug is automatically transmitted
        via the most efficient route
        (circumventing obstructions).

If for any reason the route is blocked…

        …the system will automatically
        choose the second most efficient
        route.

ZigBee technology
ZigBee is a reliable, robust, self healing RF-
technology for monitoring and control :

• Open international standard (adopted by many utilities)
• Full dynamic ‘MESH’ network support
• Plugwise’s profile has highly secure authentication via 128-bit AES
    encryption
• Based on Zigbee Pro with a manufacturing specific profile but
accessible (with key) to other non Plugwise-systems
• Highly resistant to interference from other wireless systems
• Upgradable over-the-air (OTA)
• Easily extended with additional plugs or multiple networks
• Plugwise’s system is uniquely developed to support very large
    professional networks (1000’s)
• Every device has its own unique MAC-address (and each device
can be individually and uniquely identified with its location)

                                                                          Be wise, plug in.

Pre Installation
• Focuses on creating a clear picture of the costs, where and what type of
device can to be used to save power.
• A "standard" pre-installation process will begin with a meeting to present
Plugwise & allow us to fully assess the scale of the project and give a good
estimate to produce a tender with costing and ROI times.
• Once the tender is approved we discuss how Plugwise can implement a
  solution
• A second appointment will be also organized with Facility Management to
do an inventory check of the devices mostly likely to be wasting energy.
• We will fully evaluate the customer’s site and will indicate the types of
device to be used and where they can be located to give 95% coverage of
  the location.
• The final step is to ensure the customer fully understands the Plugwise
proposal in order to sign an agreement for its implementation.

                                                               Be wise, plug in.
Phase 1
• Understanding the energy used by the customer.
• Measurement of energy only to get a good understanding of how to
optimise the programming of the system
    – The plugs are not programmed in this phase and just act as autonomous energy
measurement devices to record all energy measurement in their Flash memory.
• After 2 weeks of pure measurement, a review date will be scheduled. The
largest energy consuming devices will be identified, energy consumption
will be measured against known averages and potential savings will be
  shown and explained.
• Immediately after this first review the switching schemes are
implemented on all the plugged devices and names and grouping
  established.

                                                                      Be wise, plug in.
Phase 2
• Minimise energy consumption by programming the monitoring and
control functions of a number of key plugged devices identified from
  Phase 1
• This is made possible by programming the on / off times of the Plugwise
system via the source software and activating standby killers in the device.
• Additionally it’s possible to get feedback from Phase 1 on the most
efficient use of energy to users & initiate behavioural change within the
  company.
• After the Phase 2 review a clear picture of the energy consumption of the
devices outside office hours will be given and lists made of the top 20
  largest energy wasters.

                                                             Be wise, plug in.
Final Phase
• At this stage customers decide whether the Pilot of the
Plugwise system has been convincing enough to be
implemented in either in full or part.
• After a 'GO' separate arrangements will be made for the
expansion and or optimization of the system.
   – This will normally be within 2 weeks of final sign off.

  • 10. Wireless mesh network All modules communicate with each other in the Plugwise network. Additionally, each module functions as a router. A switching command to a certain plug is automatically transmitted via the most efficient route (circumventing obstructions). If for any reason the route is blocked… …the system will automatically choose the second most efficient route. Be wise, plug in.
  • 11. The wireless mesh network Plugwise networks can easily be extended with other modules. Be wise, plug in.
  • 12. • 30. Phases of a customer Implementation •First Meetings Pre Installation •Costing Established Phase •Day 1 - Day 14 •Understand the Energy Used Phase 1 •Day 15 - 30 •Measurement and Control – set up the Plugwise system Phase 2 •Go - No Go Customer agrees to an Installation • Money back guarantees Customer Enjoys up to 40% savings in Energy Use • ROI in 1 to 3 years Be wise, plug in.
  • 31. Pre Installation • Focuses on creating a clear picture of the costs, where and what type of device can to be used to save power. • A "standard" pre-installation process will begin with a meeting to present Plugwise & allow us to fully assess the scale of the project and give a good estimate to produce a tender with costing and ROI times. • Once the tender is approved we discuss how Plugwise can implement a solution • A second appointment will be also organized with Facility Management to do an inventory check of the devices mostly likely to be wasting energy. • We will fully evaluate the customer’s site and will indicate the types of device to be used and where they can be located to give 95% coverage of the location. • The final step is to ensure the customer fully understands the Plugwise proposal in order to sign an agreement for its implementation. Be wise, plug in.
  • 32. Phase 1 • Understanding the energy used by the customer. • Measurement of energy only to get a good understanding of how to optimise the programming of the system – The plugs are not programmed in this phase and just act as autonomous energy measurement devices to record all energy measurement in their Flash memory. • After 2 weeks of pure measurement, a review date will be scheduled. The largest energy consuming devices will be identified, energy consumption will be measured against known averages and potential savings will be shown and explained. • Immediately after this first review the switching schemes are implemented on all the plugged devices and names and grouping established. Be wise, plug in.
  • 33. Phase 2 • Minimise energy consumption by programming the monitoring and control functions of a number of key plugged devices identified from Phase 1 • This is made possible by programming the on / off times of the Plugwise system via the source software and activating standby killers in the device. • Additionally it’s possible to get feedback from Phase 1 on the most efficient use of energy to users & initiate behavioural change within the company. • After the Phase 2 review a clear picture of the energy consumption of the devices outside office hours will be given and lists made of the top 20 largest energy wasters. Be wise, plug in.
  • 34. Final Phase • At this stage customers decide whether the Pilot of the Plugwise system has been convincing enough to be implemented in either in full or part. • After a 'GO' separate arrangements will be made for the expansion and or optimization of the system. – This will normally be within 2 weeks of final sign off. Be wise, plug in.
