CYBER SECURITY UPGRADES
October was National Cyber Security Awareness Month, http://www.dhs.gov/national-cyber-security-awareness-month.
Everyone has to play a role in cyber security. Constantly evolving cyber threats require the engagement of the entire
nation - from government and law enforcement to the private sector and, the public. The concept applies to both
protecting oneself from identity theft and in making corporate systems more secure. Some of NPC’s upgrades will
continue for months. Please be patient and allow more time for your personnel actions. Call 1-866-827-5672, the NPC
Customer Service Center for assistance during these times.
CRITICAL PAPERWORK IS A MUST
Death is a distressing matter, but it is part of life and certainly happens in an organization as large as ours. This is why
updated paperwork is truly critical. Leaders should ensure each Sailor prepares carefully in advance, just in case.
Revision is necessary when anything changes for a Sailor - a new spouse or partner, a divorce, a parent or beneficiary
dies, children reach the age of 18, or if a Sailor chooses to appoint different beneficiaries for their SGLI. In all these cases,
Sailors must make time to revisit their Page 2 and NSIPs to revise their wishes and then ensure they reflect in the OMPF.
KUDER JOURNEY AVAILABLE ON NAVY COLLEGE SITE
The Kuder Journey is free to active duty and reserve members. This offers career guidance to Sailors, helping them
explore their likes, interests and what they are confident in doing. Service members can access this lifetime resource
program for free. This one-stop-shop allows the user to build their profile and then update once needs met or change.
There are five steps to Journey: Assessments, Occupations, Education and Financial Aid, Job Search Tools, and Jobs. It
takes 3 easy steps and about 30 minutes to get started. Sailors register free and take all three assessments.

2. Watch the provided tutorials: User Registration, Overview, How to Take the Assessments, and Job Search Tool

3. Register as a new user.

29 October 1980: USS PARSONS (DDG-33) rescues 110 Vietnamese refugees 330 miles south of Saigon.
30 October 1775: Congress authorizes four vessels for the defense of the United Colonies.
31 October 1941: German submarine U-552 sinks USS REUBEN JAMES (DD- 245), which was escorting Convoy HX 156,
with loss of 115 lives. First U.S. ship lost to enemy action in World War II.
