2. What does the 15 symbol mean
• No one under the age of 15 is allowed to
legally watch the film at the cinema.
• Also they can’t buy the film from shops in the
form of DVD’s.
• It is not suitable for children under the age of
15.
3. What classifies a 15?
• Strong violence.
• Frequent strong language.
• Portrays sexual activity.
• Strong references to sex.
• Sexual nudity.
• Brief scenes of sexual violence.
• The use of drugs.
4. Language
• The BBFC allows strong language in 15’s so
there is likely to be a large amount of strong
language (f***,t*** and others).
• There is no upper limit to the number of uses
of strong language.
• Occasional stronger terms can be used.
• However constant use of the word will push
up the rating.
5. Sex and nudity
• Sexual activity can be portrayed just as long
as there is no graphic detail of the activity.
• Nudity may be allowed but just like sexual
activities in no strong detail.
• There are no restrictions in a non-sexual
context.
• Homosexual activities are treated the same
and all rules apply.
6. Violence
• Violence is strong in 15’s and isn’t limited to
much, so you can expect to see a lot of fight
scenes and blood.
• However it should not dwell on pain or in jury.
• Strongest gory images are not acceptable.
• Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is unlikely
to feature for example no rape killings.
• Easily accessible weapons may not be glamorised
for example knives.
