1. Evaluation – Question 1
In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. Ancillary Task: Poster
In order to comply with the conventions of our music genre, who better to ask
than our target audience. So to deliver the best poster possible our group
conducted a questionnaire to see which had the best response, and the
outcome was this poster . However we wanted to somehow differentiate
from existing posters in our genre in order for us to stand out, which we had
positive feedback.

In two of are three poster
mock-ups we inserted ‘5
stars’ at the bottom of the
advert poster. The reason
behind this is because we
thought that it would add
brand recognition to our
group and it would be as
symbolic message which
represents our group.
From our poster research which we conducted, we wanted
to try and get away from the crazy back ground colours and
patterns which were used in ‘ BLINK 182’ and ‘My Chemical
Romance’ advert poster. So as a group we decide to go for
the more toned down look which was demonstrated by
‘SUM 41’ poster which we felt was simple, yet effective.
However we did follow the conventions of all the posters by
4. Ancillary Task: Digi-Pack
For are ancillary task we decided to take different aspects of each of the following album
covers to help put our own stamp on our album. So we decided to take the same type of
shot from SUM 41 and a similar pose as Busted. We felt it was vital to get the ancillary task
of the CD digipack perfect as we needed this to appeal to our target audience from the
ages of 12-25.

5. Music video
Here we have two identical close-up shots which is shown in both
blink 182 and our music video. We wanted to follow the some of
the same convention as this video because is has the same story
line as our, therefore this shot type give the connotations of sex
appeal .
6. Music video
Here we have a shot from blink 182 music video which we followed the conventions of
keeping the same performance location area, there's being in a toilet and our location
being in a music room/ recording studio.
7. Music video
Here we have a pan movement in the opening sequence in the music video of sum 41, in too deep
which is the music video we have done. As we felt this movement gave great effect and established
the location of the video we felt to follow the conventions and demonstrate a similar shot.
