This drill is designed to improve combination play like that of Spanish midfielder Xavi. Players are divided into two groups on opposite ends of a 10x30 yard rectangle with a gate in the middle. One player passes to a wall passer and follows their return pass through the gate to the other group. They then do a one-two with the wall passer and pass through the gate to the next player in line. This helps develop short, precise passing skills and movement off the ball like Xavi's to maintain possession and set up the killer pass.
