Project Leadership Management and Administration
a) Co-Lead overall project - support engagement of all in
participating institutions
b) Lead the intellectual, policy and practice work embedded
in the research component; ensure quality of the
components and final report.

c) Manage the agendas and outcomes for Steering &
Reference groups, and national meetings
d) Manage and administer the various components of the
project.

4. Research
a) Produce a review of international and national literature on
successful Indigenous teacher education programs including but not
limited to: retention, success, graduation rates, graduation status,
and employment destinations and pathways both within and outside
the profession
b) Review/synthesise historical and current Evaluation reports or data
that indicates the strength, weaknesses, success of participation in
both mainstream and cohort specific programs Indigenous teacher
education programs
c) Undertake a cost-benefit analysis of cohort-based programs and
other specific programs or modes of delivery

d) Design Institutional Audit proforma and analyse
data
e) Undertake a small qualitative study of factors
relating to successful course completion and early
career (focus groups/interviews with current and
past students and staff in select institutions)
f) Undertake process to facilitate preparation of
institutional action plans
g) Prepare final report

6. PARTICIPATING INSTITUTIONS
1 Deans participate in National Meetings, at the beginning
to help scope the project at the national and institutional
levels, at the end to share institutional plans and shape
future work of ACDE in this area.
2 Undertake Institutional Audit (as per negotiated
guidelines) in consultation with various institutional
stakeholders.
3 Engage with appropriate within-institution stakeholders
around retention and success of existing students.

4. Head of Indigenous higher education unit (or Equivalent
position) and Dean participate in mid-year national
meeting
5. Attend end of year meeting - Develop an Institutional
Action Plan for increasing retention and success.
6 Attendance at State meeting if needed.

8. What now
• Two more meetings – possibly July and
November TBA
• July meeting to include Director of your
institution’s Indigenous higher education unit –
this meeting will focus on presentation of
analysis of audits, planning for qualitative study
(tentatively planned for July-August) and pre-
planning discussion on institutional plan
