Sakai 2.8 will become the supported version on June 1, 2011. The Sakai 2.6 branch will be unsupported at that time. Migrating to Sakai 2.8 over the summer provides time to detect and address any issues before the fall semester. New features in Sakai 2.8 include an updated skin, menubar enhancements, automatic saving in assessments, email notifications for forums and assignment grades, checking resource quotas, and a web form to export grades to the university system. Feedback will be needed to test the grades export feature.
3. Why Migrate to Sakai 2.8?
• Sakai 2.6 branch will officially be unsupported
when 2.8 comes out.
• Sakai 2.7 had performance issues.
• Timing for Summer deployment:
• Week of Memorial Day, no class
• Summer: less enrollment means better chance of
detecting and fixing issues before Fall.

• Auto-save functionality to save student work in
an assessment every 10-20 seconds to reduce
the chance of lost work
