Any modern organization cannot survive without a capable and
dependable leader. The competition is immensely tough and an
organization cannot hope to survive for long unless it’s better than
the best. A firm has to display high degree of commitment towards
its clients as well as its employees. Daniel Assouline is the chairman
and co-founder of UpClick and CEO of UpClick.com.
He is a dependable leader who is trustworthy and honest. He lays
special emphasis on a work culture within his organization that
promotes optimism and team spirit.
Leading a modern organization is tough but making the employees
see the larger picture and channelize their efforts towards the
achievement of a common objective is tougher.
A leader must pay special attention to following aspects and
qualities if they are to effectively achieve the vision and mission of
the organization:
Authentic Leadership
 Authentic leaders work on the principle of ‘what you see is
what you get’. They possess certain beliefs and values and act
upon them with openness and candor.
 These leaders of people are highly ethical and transparent in
all their dealings and enjoy a higher degree of trust from their
employees.
 They are sincere people who do not merely pay lip service but
have the courage and conviction to take responsibility for their
actions and shield their employees from any decision gone
awry.
 Authentic leaders are true to themselves, their subordinates,
and their organization and its clients. They are humble in both
their success and failure and do not try to manipulate things
for their own personal gain or recognition.
 Leaders scoring high on the parameter of authenticity are
very frank. They show the mirror to their employees, but in a
way that does not hurt their feelings. That, in fact, motivates
them to perform better.
 Daniel Assouline, the chairman and co-founder of payment
processing company, UpClick, can be called an authentic
leader in the true sense of the word.
 He is a person who never shies away from delegating
responsibility, encouraging open communication, and having
the utmost faith in his subordinates.
Ethical Leadership
 This is something that has received very little or no attention
from theorists as well as general public until recently.
 The shenanigans of leaders of big firms like Arthur Anderson,
Lehmann Brothers, Enron, Merrill Lynch, etc. forced the public
and law makers to sit up and take notice of deteriorating
ethical standards in corporations.
Ethics and morality touch leadership at a number of junctures.
Unethical leaders are sure to drag down the organizations with
themselves.
 Leaders who believe in ethics and honesty try to foster moral
virtues in their employees and look at ways and means of
changing their behavior and attitudes to conform to the
highest standards of ethics and morality.
 Unethical leaders are more likely to use their power to feather
their own nest whereas ethical leaders use their power and
charisma to serve others.
 Daniel Assouline is a leader who values ethics and
professionalism over everything else. The employees of his
organization know that they will be rewarded for their hard
work and integrity.
 A person of impeccable integrity and honesty, he sets high
ethical standards and demonstrates those standards through
his own attitude and behavior.
A good leader should also display a lot of Optimism
According to celebrated British PM Winston Churchill, “A
pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an
optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
It always helps to see the glass as half full rather than half
empty. Modern organizations operate in a highly
competitive environment with a lot of economic
uncertainty.
Things will not always go according to plans and there are
times when a leader stressed out by situation may see
themselves in the dumps. An optimist leader even from
there will not lose sight of the stars.
Organizations function in a challenging environment and a
good leader ensures that gathering dark clouds do not sap
the moral of their employees.
 Tough times do not last but tough peoples do. Optimist
leaders will motivate their employees with the promise of
better things in the future.
 They will not let worry show on their face since the troops
begin to flee the battlefield if they see that the leader has lost
all hope.
 Optimistic leaders are adept at masking their emotions and
always present a smiling face to their subordinates to ensure
that everything is alright.
 Daniel Assouline is a leader who scores high on optimism. He
thinks only of the best, work for the best, and expects the best
from his employees.
He wears a cheerful countenance and addresses any issues
and problems with his employees in a frank and positive
manner.
 Leading a modern organization is tough. Some people
cannot handle the pressure and resort to unethical
means to serve their own interests.
 Ethics and authenticity have been garnering a lot of
attention these days and people increasingly
understand that a person cannot be a good and
effective leader in the absence of these qualities.
 Daniel Assouline is a truly authentic leader who
scores high on parameters like frankness, optimism,
and sincerity.

Ethical Leadership  This is something that has received very little or no attention from theorists as well as general public until recently.  The shenanigans of leaders of big firms like Arthur Anderson, Lehmann Brothers, Enron, Merrill Lynch, etc. forced the public and law makers to sit up and take notice of deteriorating ethical standards in corporations. Ethics and morality touch leadership at a number of junctures.
