John Wesley Roberts donated land for educational purposes in Crooked Creek in 1876. The earliest schools were log or frame buildings, but in 1891 the first brick school building called the "Bell Tower" was constructed. The school grew over time with additions in 1927, 1946, and 1964 as the population increased. In 1983, Crooked Creek School was closed for a total rebuild and reconstruction. When it reopened in 1985 it featured an open concept design. Although the oldest parts of the building were demolished, the original entrance arch was saved as a landmark. Community support has remained important for the school throughout its history.
