Tennis in Catalonia
The sport tennis was introduced into Catalonia in the late nineteenth
century, in Barcelona and Reus.
In 1904 the first tennis association was founded in Barcelona.

In 1917 the first Catalan Tennis Championship was held, and later in 1923 they
held the first Indoor World Championship in Barcelona. The main
tournament is the Torneo Godó.

Some famous Catalan tennis players are Sergi Bruguerra, Albert Costa,
Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Jordi Arrese and Alex Corretja.
