Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD can be a very destructive
anxiety disorder.
OCD is an anxiety disorder by unwanted and repeated
thoughts, feeling, or repetitive behaviors.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder affects children and adolescents as
well as adults.
Most recognize their obsessions are irrational and compulsions are
excessive or unreasonable.


Common obsessive thought in OCD:
 Fear of causing harm to yourself and others.
 Excessive focus on religious or moral ideas.
 Fear of losing or not having things you might need.
 Believes in superstitions, considered something lucky or unlucky.
 Inappropriate sexual thought or violent thoughts.


Common compulsive behavior in OCD:
 Double-checking things, such as locks, appliances and light
switches.
 Spending a lot of time washing or cleaning.
 Arranging things as just so.
 Repeating certain words, counting.
 Indulged in senseless things to reduce anxiety.


The exact cause of OCD is still not known but a few theories are
listed below.
 Biology: Changes in body’s natural chemistry or brain functions
 Genetics: OCD runs in families sometimes and can be passed on.
 Depression: Depression may be sometimes develop OCD
symptoms.










Cognitive Therapy: Conversational therapy sessions to help the
better understand this order and how to deal with it.
Variety of drug treatments: Antidepressant medicine help to
balance brain.
Psychotherapy: Can be used to reduce stress, anxiety and resolve
inner conflicts.
Self-Help: Learn about the disorder, join a support group or use
relaxation techniques
