Activity Title: Past Progressive (Continuous) Tense
Objective: To supply the correct form of present progressive tense of the verb in the
sentence.
PAST PROGRESSIVE (CONTINUOUS) TENSE
FORMATION:
was/ were + -ing form
USE: 1. To describe a continuing action in the past that usually serves as a background for another
action that took place.
Ex.) We were walking along Quezon Avenue when the incident happened.
2. To denote continuing actions in the past happened simultaneously.
Ex.) Ken was arranging his things while his brother was sleeping on the bed.
While the teacher was discussing the lesson, the students were jotting down notes.
LET’S PRACTICE! Supply the past progressive tense of the verb in the given sentences.
