6. THE FUTURE
WE’RE CURRENTLY OPERATING AT CAPACITY:
We launched in August 2012 to see if Adelaide was ready for the co-working concept.
It is.
We have 15 members paying between $200 and $300 per month to use our desks and attend our events.
When we launched we forecast a small profit of $1,910 based on 16 full-time members by June 2013.
We have almost reached this target in only 2 months of operations.
Demand for our services has exceeded expectations and we are looking for larger premises to accomodate the Distillery.
FUNDRAISING TARGET:
We are seeking to raise between $30,000 and $60,000 to enable us to fit-out and lease premises 2-3 times larger than the
current space (up to 300m2) and to support a quality calendar of events for our members and general public.
Based on conservative growth of 2 new memberships per quarter (1 Full-time and 1 Part-time) and rent and outgoings
at $30,000 p.a. we have estimated that it would take approximately 18 months (April 2014) before cash reserves are
sufficient to support this size investment.
However, both current members will be more satisfied (and maintain their memberships longer) and future members will
be more attracted to both a larger space and a higher quality fit-out.

7. THE FUTURE
A SUCCESSFUL EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE’RE AIMING TO BUILD:
Fishburners (fishburners.org), in Ultimo Sydney, is an example of a successful co-working space we’re seeking to emulate at the
Majoran Distillery. It is the largest tech co-working space in Australia.
Fishburners offers desks for $300 per month and houses up to 120 start-ups. Thanks to the sponsorship they have locked in with
Optus they have were able to expand to a second level in September 2012.
Like the Distillery they were established as a not-for-profit to grow tech entrepreneurship in Australia by providing a space for
entrepreneurs to increase their chance of being successful through expanding their networks and having access to experienced
mentors.
