Approximately 2/3 of the country is covered by mountains, The
northern part of Georgia is formed by the Caucasus mountain range,
with the highest peak of Shkhara (5.068 m.), followed by Kazbegi
(Mkinvartsveri – 5.047 m.) and Ushba (4.710 m.).
At present the total area of Protected Areas is about 7 % of the
country’s territory.

A comparatively small territory of the country demonstrates almost a
complete variety of the climate zones of the planet – from eternal
snows and glaciers and high mountain zones of the Caucasus Major - to

Georgian Military Highway, one of the world’s most beautiful roads,

Mtskheta, one of the oldest cities of the country of Georgia, is located
approximately 20 kilometers north of Tbilisi at the confluence of the
Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers.
Mtskheta was capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia during the 3rd
century BC – 5th century AD.
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century, see photo) and Jvari Monastery (6th
century) in Mtskheta are amongst the most significant monuments of Georgia.
Due to its historical significance and numerous ancient monuments, the "Historical
Monuments of Mtskheta" became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
12. Region of Inner Kartli
Inner Kartli is Georgia’s heartland in many ways. The region is filled

with hidden valleys and secret cultural treasures. Spreading out both
sides of the Mtkvari valley, Inner Kartli takes in the foothills of the
Greater Caucasus, covered in fruit orchards, as well as the forested
Trialeti Range.
The region’s capital is Gori, famous as the birthplace of soviet tyrant
Joseph Stalin, or as he was known here, Soso Jugashvili.

13. Region of kakheti
Kakheti is the main wine producing province of Georgia. Many

villages and small towns huddle along the beautiful Alazani valley.
Kakheti has a rich history and hundreds of historical and
architectural monuments. Kakheti is also rich in wine factories.
Places to visit – Vashlovani National Park in the South, monasteries
of David Gareja, set in an unforgettable semi-desert landscape. In
the north of the region lies the Great Caucasus range, and the
hidden world of Tusheti - an almost medieval landscape of castles,

4,5 km fortress wall.

place in Georgia where couple can get married any time of the day

Adjara is located on the south-eastern coast of the Black Sea and
