Prof. John Grainger – Pro-Vice Chancellor / Executive Vice President
Prof. Grainger is the head of the Murdoch Dubai campus. He participates in the university’s strategic
planning process and is responsible for producing appropriate university operational plans. Prof. Grainger
has earned degrees in Psychology and Education prior to gaining an MBA and a Doctorate in Business
Administration from Murdoch University. He has extensive experience in almost all disciplines of business
education with particular expertise in Strategic Management, Leadership and Motivation, Entrepreneurship,
Educational Technology, Knowledge Management, Information Technology and Environmental Sustainability.
Johan Claasen – Academic Director - Media, Communication and Culture
Johan Claasen heads the school of Media, Communication and Culture at Murdoch Dubai. He coordinates
the courses and is in charge of developing and teaching the programs. Claasen has worked for over three
decades in print, radio and television news industry in South Africa, where he also completed his studies at
University of Johannesburg. Prior to joining MUISCD, Johan spent four years at academic institutions in
Cape Town and Stellenbosch where he lectured in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication Science and
Public Relations.
Daniel Adkins – Academic Director - Career Programs
Dan joined Murdoch University in November 2009 to teach in the MUPC and Business programs. Hailing
from the United States, Daniel Adkins taught IT professionals in various disciplines including project
management, quality management, and leadership skills. Over the course of 20 years, Adkins held numerous
management positions, including CIO and CEO. After founding an international school in India, he moved to the
UAE in 2007 to return to his passion, which is teaching. Dan holds an MBA from Herriot Watt University.

Advanced Standing at Murdoch University
• Students may be eligible for Advanced Standing towards their Murdoch degree if they
have completed any other undergraduate or postgraduate studies at a recognized
institution
• In order to determine if a student qualifies for advanced standing towards his/her
Murdoch degree, the student would need to provide the following:
• Original academic transcripts/statement of results
• Detailed course description of what the student studied within each relevant
individual subject of prior studies including learning objectives and outcomes,
and textbooks for each unit completed. A copy of prior institution's handbook
unit descriptions or a subject's course outline is usually sufficient. Note: Names
and codes of the unit descriptions should be exactly the same as the names and
codes of the units on the academic transcript
• A breakdown of the assessment and grading scheme for each unit
• Examination paper for each unit (if possible)

• The Murdoch Dubai Foundation Program (MDFP), equivalent to Year 12, provides guaranteed entry into
the first year of all Murdoch University bachelor degree courses
• The course is conducted over:
• Two 14-week teaching periods
• There are 10 class hours per week in each of the three subjects, resulting in 30 class hours per week
• Students complete six units which provide a total of 720 class hours

Visa Sponsorship
Student will need to fill up the application for Student Entry Permit, attaching relevant documents
and paying the applicable fee. In order to make an application for a visa, students need the
following:
• Student entry permit: a student entry permit must be completed and submitted with each
application (form provided by MUISCD)
• Passport copies: four photocopies must be submitted with each application
•12 recent passport size photos
• Student enrollment contract
• Previous academic transcripts
• Proof of sufficient funds: a bank statement showing sufficient funds more than AED 30,000.
If the proof of funds is from a company, then a letter indicating sponsorship willingness must be
submitted.
Note: payment of tuition and any other extras such as hostel and book fees do not contribute to
the AED 30,000.

then the University provides a bank statement to the student hub). The authorities (GSO, Immigration)
do not interfere with student loans (tuition or others) and do not restrict them as long as the student hub
approves the visa application
