HOW TO USE THE RESOURCE
n I think this would be beneficial to my future students because
they can interactively learn math through a gumball machine
n I would call on students to answer the different questions on
the board
n They could physically write out what they are seeing which will
give them a better understanding of what they are doing
n This would also help with their knowledge of colors because
to answer the math questions they need to know the colors
n There is a wide variety of types of questions as well so it can
be used for a wide range of students

I WOULD CHANGE…..
n I did not like the third slide, I would remove it as a whole
because it basically repeats what is said in the slide before.
n I also could not figure out what was happening on that page
n However if I chose to keep it, I would have put instructions on
the page so the children knew what to do

I WOULD CHANGE……
n Slide 8 tells the students to write a word problem but at the
bottom there are a lot of different gumball colors
n I know this would have confused me so I think there should
not have been any gumballs so the children do not get
confused
n I found that it just took up extra space and was not necessary

I WOULD CHANGE…..
n The subtraction slides were set up strange. If I were to do this
in my class I would have put little gumballs coming out of the
machine so the children could see how the gumballs were
being removed.
n I think children could get confused as to what they have to be
removing from the gumballs machine and putting the
gumballs coming out of the machine would make a lot more
sense

HOW WOULD THIS SUPPORT
UNIVERSAL DESIGN??
n Allows for a wide range of learning styles
n Visual learners, verbal learners, and kinesthetic learners
n Children love the smart board because they can be
interactive in the classroom and write and click and drag
things and diagram words
n Children who do not want to participate can see everything
that is happening and absorb the information
n Children can also listen to what the teacher is teaching them
to learn
n Allows for most learning styles to be touched upon
