7. ATAC GIS experience
• The territorial information system (SIT) was implemented in ATAC
in the year 2000. The system incorporates and integrates in the
same data base all the information on mobility, both public and
private, related to the municipality of Rome. The SIT was actually
designed to properly support decisions making for mobility in the
exceptional complexity of the Roman scenario.
• All the divisions and units of ATAC take advantage of the SIT
which is the unique software platform for all the systems
managing territorial information (eg. the satellite control system
for the vehicles AVM). Furthermore the SIT is the main tool used
to deliver information also in real time to the public (eg. Web site
services, find your bus, contact centre, route calculation).
• All the information concerning a territorial aspect is recorded and
continuously updated within the SIT itself. Not only the
infrastructures but also mobility events are linked to the territory
and therefore potentially referable to a geo-referenced map.

directly from the Territorial Information System (SIT) and being
updated constantly through a data maintenance process that
involves various Departments in Atac.
Esri EMEA UC October 26-28, 2010 Rome
12. CONSIT principal feature
In details CONSIT allows the following:
• Querying geographical and alphanumeric routes and schedules of
bus and tram lines;
• Preparing files for printing schedules and routes of bus and tram
lines;
• Querying the following main geographic information:
1. bus, tramway, metro and trolleybus and two regional railway lines and
relevant time schedules;
