2. What is Integration?
According to our research:
To integrate means to bring together so as to form a
whole. There are various ways the principle of integration may
be applied in education.
Integration also refers to the bringing together of
students from different ethnic and social backgrounds. But this
is of little value if the content of education is drawn from one
culture only. Education needs to be multicultural. Perhaps
more importantly, it needs to be intercultural. As important to
intercultural learning as is the understanding and appreciation
of cultural differences is the recognition of similarities and
common values.
3. This refers to the
organization or putting
together diverse elements
to form a unified and
harmonious whole.
4. The students should be able to combine
his previous experiences together in
meaningful patterns of understanding and
application.
They can either be supplement or
complemental to each other to strengthen
the effect of teaching and learning. To do
this, one must be able to see similarities
and differences of ideas, concepts, and
issues including various phenomena.
5. KUYA!!
For instance, a child can build the idea about
males around him; and he too, realizes that
there is a male whom he/she must
call, daddy, there is also one whom he must
call grandpa, and there is still one whom he/
she will call kuya or tito.
6. There are infinite examples to
support learning as an integrative
process.
No amount of learning can take place
unless they can be incorporated and
use to practical situations.
7. If students are made to work
on portfolios or reports on
certain issues like pollution
using educational technology
and that they are made to
answer the issues by playing
the roles of various
citizens, the experiences
become more pronounced as
they can be recalled to
highlight current experiences.
