possible. I didn’t want to cause my mom even more

And, I was highly mature and trustworthy. The
adults in my life trusted me even as a teenager. I
took that trust very seriously.
Now, I want to be clear that I love both of my
parents very much and have a great relationship with each of them. I am not blaming them in anyway.
However, because I took on who I felt I needed to be to make it easier on others, I lost a lot of my true

For the Love of Personality
Those who know me well, know I love personality typing, assessment, brain development, psychology,
and all that jazz. I have an AAS in Early Childhood Development and was the nerdy one in my class who
loved studying all that “personality stuff.” It fascinates me.
I have completed different personality and temperament assessments over the years including MyersBriggs and even the Arno Clinical Profile. Though I have learned a ton about myself, and let go of the
need to be everything for everyone, I still felt it wasn’t quite right.
Then something happened…
I found myself suddenly being drawn to brighter colors and combos like turquoise and coral over my
classics of black and navy. Flowers and butterflies, freedom and lightness, became more appealing to
me, as well.

The problem was, I still wasn’t quite there yet with full allowance. After all, when you spend years
suppressing the traits that you think are somehow “unacceptable,” it can be hard to just let your truth
emerge.

Lori's Unconventional Advice
I felt like I had this creative, fun and bright side that I was still afraid to express in my need to be
“professional and responsible.” I felt that if I let the fun out people would view me as immature,
childish, irresponsible, and get this…even unintelligent. All the things I have avoided, with a vengeance,

Alas I Realized…
I’m usually a fast learner, but this one took me a while to get. But, at last, I realized the only person’s
permission I needed was my own.
About that time when all this was going on in my highly active brain, I somehow stumbled across Carol
Tuttle’s work on energy profiling. I watched the free “Dressing Your Truth” series Carol did and picked
up her book It’s Just My Nature!
What is Different About This from the Others?
Carol makes a point not to tell you who you are, because you already know. She let’s you read the 4
energy profiles and decide for yourself. Your intuition is then backed up with body profiling which helps
you determine if you were right through your natural movement and facial features. Personality can be
tainted over the years (like me suppressing my lighter side), so body profiling gives you the real deal.
Even your doodling reveals who you are!
ABUNDANCE WORKSHOP
This is so much less limiting than all those other “assessment type” systems. You know who you are
deep down. You don’t need anyone to tell you, you just need to rediscover for yourself. We all express
all four types, but have a dominate and secondary that greatly impacts how we move and interact with
the world.
Discovery takes letting go of the “shoulds,” which I find highly detrimental. After years of being who we
think we should be, we can bury who we really are so deep that we don’t even know anymore. We do it
for other people: parents, friends, teachers, bosses, etc.
3. But, let me tell you what they all truly need from you, even if they don’t realize it….
What the people in your life truly need is your authenticity
authenticity.

I love this quote from John Green when talking to his brother Hank,

“… nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about
stuff. We don’t have to be like, ‘Oh yeah that purse is okay’ or like,
‘Yeah, I like that band’s early stuff.’ Nerds are allowed to love stuff,
like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself-love
it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they are saying
is, ‘You like stuff’, which is just not a good insult at all, like ‘You are
too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.”
That quote so resonates with me. I want to give myself permission to Dare Greatly (Thank you Dr. Brene
Brown). To be authentically me in my most loving, fun, enthusiastic way! I want to learn to give myself
permission to get excited about “stuff,” jump up and down excited and know that it is not only ok, but
needed in the world.
I now know I’m free to rock pink with Tiffany blue if a want to and still be smart, and still run my
business in a loving and professional manner! There is a presence and power in being who you are that
draws others to your authenticity.
Like Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess on New Girl, I can be fun, true to myself, and still smart and
strong!
“I break for birds. I rock a lot of polka dots. I have touched glitter in
the last 24 hours! …And that doesn’t mean I’ m not smart and tough
and strong.”
I know it will take work, but I’m on the journey! Will you join me?
“By recognizing the value in yourself you will develop a greater ability to recognize it in others, as well.”

It’s not just about you! When you understand how the different natures compliment each other, you will
