You were born to win, but to be a winner,
you must plan to win, prepare to win, and
expect to win. ~ Zig Ziglar
5. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Why does your business need a vision and
mission?
Same reason you need a business plan.
It’s part of your road map to success.
6. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
When you wonder WHY you are working 100
hours a week for little money you can revisit
your Vision/Mission and remind yourself as to
the reason.
7. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Your Vision and Mission statements will
inspire you, energize you, and keep you
focused.
8. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
What are Mission and Vision statements?
People often think they’re the same thing
but they’re not.
9. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Vision – describes what you want your
business to be in the future. It’s purpose and
values.
10. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Mission – describes what you want your
business to be today. It’s purpose and
primary objectives.
11. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Your Vision statement
The vision statement includes vivid
description of the organization as it
effectively carries out its operations.
12. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Developing a vision statement can be quick
culture-specific. You may use methods
ranging from highly analytical and rational
to highly creative and divergent.
Utilize your dreams and ideals.
13. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Developing the vision can be the most
enjoyable part of business planning, but it
can also be the most difficult.
14. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
The vision is a compelling description of the
state and function of your business. A very
attractive image toward which the
organization was attract the business is
guided by the strategic plan. The vision has
become more of a motivational tool.
15. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Your vision should remain intact, even if the
market changes dramatically, because it
speaks to what you represent, not just what
you do.
16. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Your Mission statement
A mission statement is a key tool that can be as
important as your business plan. It captures, in a
few succinct sentences, the essence of your
business's goals and the philosophies underlying
them. Equally important, the mission statement
signals what your business is all about to your
customers, employees, suppliers and the
community.
17. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
If the organization elects to develop a vision
statement before developing the mission
statement, ask “Why does the image, the
vision exist -- what is it’s purpose?” This
purpose is often the same as the mission.
18. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
When wording the mission statement,
consider the organization's products,
services, markets, values, and concern for
public image, and maybe priorities of
activities for survival.
19. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Consider any changes that may be needed
in wording of the mission statement because
of any new suggested strategies during the
business planning process.
20. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Ensure that wording of the mission is to the
extent that priorities in how products and
services are delivered are clear.
21. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
When refining the mission, a useful exercise is
to add or delete a word from the mission to
realize the change in scope of the mission
statement and assess how concise is its
wording.
22. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Does the mission statement include sufficient
description that the statement clearly
separates the mission of the organization
from other organizations?
23. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Your mission statement may change, but it
should still tie back to your core
values, customer needs and vision.
24. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Guidelines to writing your Vision/Mission
statements.
Your Vision Statement should start with what you
believe, why you do what you do -- your
purpose or cause on a level higher than what
your company does or makes. Try starting your
statement with the words "I believe..." or "I
envision a world..." You'll find what follows will be
quite different than what you expect. You can
always take out those opening words later, if
you want. It’s about setting the tone.
25. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Don't write more than two lines for what
you believe.
This is not the place for long-winded
descriptions about what your company
does.
26. Create YOUR Vision and Mission
Statement
Leave what you sell out of it.
This is a statement of your vision, not what
you do.
