3. • Madame Bovary’s story open with the boy “Charles Bovary” who is
dull and unconfident. Belongs to a middle-class family, after a huge
struggle, he just succeeds to be a doctor of the countryside.
• On the suggestion of his mother, he married to a widower who was
much older than him. But soon died. After the death of his wife, attract
toward Emma and married her. She was the daughter of one of his
patient.
• But Emma and Charles have no match. She was the girl who
fantasizes, always dreams and was very romantic but another side
Charles was dull, simple and very realistic. It causes that Emma unable
to satisfy her dreams and ideas, so because of her dissatisfaction, she
becomes ill and depressed.
4. • On her pregnancy, Charles decide to shift the place for the sake of her
happiness and at the new town she gave birth a beautiful girl but she
was still sad.
• In this town, she attracts toward a young clerk named “Leon” but
soon realized that she is married so ignore her feeling. It causes that
Leon decides to leave for further study. As a result, she started to
neglect all her duties as a wife and a mother. For her, Bovary and his
love for her have no importance.
• Sometime after she move to a passionate affair with her rich
neighbour “Rodolphe” but very he bored and abandon her. Due to this,
she became seriously ill.
5. • Charles struggles to recover her but she still not care for him or respect
his love. During an opera program, she meet Leon and began an affair
with him.
• At this stage, she becomes totally passionate toward his ideas and
thoughts. She started to spend her husband’s money freely and also
brow money to afford daily city trips. Day by day she was sinking into
the deep debts.
• Her husband “Bovary” have no idea that what his wife was doing. He
was blindly believing her due to his stupid innocence.
6. • Meanwhile, the money lender starts demanding to return to his
debts. The afraid, Emma beg help to Leon, Rodolphe, and other
business owners of the town but any of them didn’t help her so she
poisoned herself and died.
• When Charles Bovary struck to the truth of his wife. He too died
lonely in his garden.
