Identifying cardiovascular disease symptoms


The term cardiovascular refers to the heart (cardio) and blood vessels
                   (vascular). Diseases associated with the
                   cardiovascular system are the largest killers in the
                   world, according to the World Health Organization,
                   claiming 17.1 million people a year.

                     Factors that contribute to cardiovascular diseases
                     are an unhealthy diet, tobacco use, physical
                     inactivity and alcohol abuse.

                     It may be mentioned that about 22 percent of
                     cardiovascular-related deaths in men and four
                     percent in women living in Europe are due to
                     smoking.
                     Besides, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity
                     also raise the risk of cardiovascular diseases and
                     strokes.

Over 80 percent of deaths occur in low-and middle-income countries,
occurring almost equally in men and women. Cardiovascular risk of
women is particularly high after menopause.

Cardiovascular symptoms(In French cardiaque symptome) include chest
pain, palpitations and shortness of breath. Some symptoms may be
milder like weakness, dizziness, backache, feeling of indigestion,
syncope (fainting or loss of consciousness) and cyanosis, which is a bluish
discoloration of the lips, hands and feet.

And while cardiovascular diseases can occur anywhere in the body, it
tends to occur more frequently in the heart, brain, legs, pelvis and arms.

It is important to note, however, that the only way to detect
cardiovascular disease symptoms (In French symptome malaise
cardiaque)is through a thorough medical evaluation from a licensed
physician or medical practitioner.




There is a silver lining, however, in fighting cardiovascular diseases. It is
preventable. So by following several simple steps, you can help keep this
killer disease at bay.

Make changes to your dietary habits by reducing fat, salt intake and
increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Get out of the sedentary lifestyle and undertake 30 minutes of moderate
physical activity every day.

If you’re overweight, lose the excess fat through a combination of a
