Why must I join CIMAP? CIMAP is a professional body supporting the needs of all stakeholders involved in
Assessment, Moderation, and ETD Practice in South Africa. The benefits of CIMAP

CIMAP offers a professional recognition pathway, a Code of Professional

Through this affiliation CIMAP will be able to offer its members a range of CPD
programmes bearing international recognition.

clients, candidates and employers that an individual is committed to ethical
conduct. This is how the process of membership and accreditation will work:
The Chartered Corporate Membership is available to providers registered with the
Department of Higher Education and Training as an FET or HET Provider. Chartered
Corporate Members will participate in annual CIMAP provider quality awards, and
may be awarded a series of quality grading confirmations.
Providers that are not registered with DHET are only eligible for Affiliate Corporate
Membership.
Individual members that are constituently registered with any ETQA as an assessor
may apply for individual membership. All initial applications are awarded an affiliate
member designation. Affiliate members may indicate their designation status as

Student Member - Open to anyone with an interest in assessment. Affiliate
Assessor (No status awarded);
Affiliate Membership - is open to anyone with an interest in assessment,
and confirmation of achievement of the national assessor standard and is
registered with at least one ETQA - (ACIMAP);
Practitioner Assessor - 1-3 years' experience in educational assessment,
and must have achieved a National Diploma (NQF 5) (PCIMAP);
Fellow Assessor - Fellowship is available to the most experienced and
expert practitioners in educational assessment (at least 5 years) and a NQF
6 level qualification (FCIMAP).
