Digitalisation and the Internet have caused a content reproduction and distribution revolution with clear implications for copyright management. There are many Digital Rights Management (DRM) efforts that facilitate copyright management in closed domains but they find great difficulties when they are forced to interoperate in an open domain like the World Wide Web. In order to facilitate interoperation and automation, DRM systems can be enriched with domain formalisations like the Copyright Ontology. This ontology is implemented using the Description Logic variant of the Web Ontology Language (OWL-DL). This approach facilitates the implementation of efficient usages against licenses checking, which is reduced to description logics classification.

Content marketing production processes are broken. Most organizations can’t crank out the wide variety of content needed because their processes are outdated, inefficient, and riddled with waste. Oh, and then there are tools. Content marketers don’t have the right ones for the jobs at hand. In this presentation, content strategy guru Scott Abel, The Content Wrangler, will demystify the benefits of intelligent content for content marketers and outline the changes needed in order for marketers to take advantage of the approach. Attendee takeaways: How adopting intelligent content can turn a content marketing department into a content marketing factory How some brands are leveraging intelligent content to produce more content with less effort Lessons learned from the pros working in the trenches What you’ll need to get started #CMWorld

While content as 'king' may not be the best analogy, the importance of well-written, useful text content can't be overstated. Tone can affect engagement, keywords can make or break your SEO, length can kill interest—great writing is vital. Content isn't just blog posts or 'About' pages, it's everything that gives information (including the way the information itself is presented)! I'm seeing a common theme amongst non-profits: no one cares about their content. Why? In this session, we'll refresh how we view our own web content by seeing it through the eyes of the user, and we'll discuss methods of improving UX (user experience) by employing simple and effective psychology alongside common-sense SEO. Then, since better prospects will be finding and reading your content, I'll show you how to target your audience, measure the results, and constantly improve your outreach.

When we released TV is Next 4 1/2 years ago, we predicted negative changes for broadcast and cable television networks. Much of what we wrote was controversial, but is now viewed as common knowledge. With the benefit of hindsight, we wanted to re-release TV is Next and comment on how events matched our predictions. The most significant prediction we made was that disintermediation would cause irreparable harm to the business models of these companies. We said that the breakup of the expensive 500 channel cable bundle would lead to reduced subscribers. That change is happening quickly as inexpensive "skinny" bundles featuring a couple of dozen channels are replacing traditional cable. Sling TV and Playstation Vue have streaming "skinny" bundles at a variety of prices, and Comcast just announced options starting at $15. We also wrote at length about new viewing models disruptive to traditional TV. When we released TV is Next, Netflix had 25 million domestic subscribers. Four years later, that doubled to 49 million. YouTube viewing has grown from about 3 billion hours a month in 2012 to approximately 30 billion. Facebook video didn’t exist in 2012, and neither did Amazon Prime, a product that challenged the network model. As we said in an interview with The Manual of Ideas, traditional TV offered the viewer entertainment in exchange for watching commercials. For receiving the product, their show, the network is going to annoy you for 16 to 18 minutes an hour. Amazon Prime is different because Amazon is the product. The company offers the show at no additional charge because it ties you to Amazon. We can’t imagine anything more disruptive to the ad-based TV business than a well-financed competitor offering viewers the opportunity to watch what they want when they want it at no additional cost and with no commercials. Viewing hours on Amazon Prime doubled in the last year, and both Amazon and Netflix are planning on spending about $6 billion this year on programming which is driving up production costs for TV networks. In TV is Next, we wrote at about commercial avoidance. Since then, viewers started “binge watching” on Netflix and watch an entire season of a show in a few days with no commercials instead of on a broadcast network with a large commercial load over several months. Even the NFL is accommodating viewers' distaste for commercials and is going to reduce them in games next year. At publication, we noted that we were early on the idea and were not recommending any specific stock action. Since then, cable subscriptions and TV ratings have declined, but because advertisers have paid more for decreasing exposure, company financials and stock prices haven’t been hit hard yet. Counting on advertisers to continue to pay higher CPM as cable cord cutting and commercial avoidance increases is not a sustainable model. Readers who have questions regarding the companies exposed to these trends are invited to contact us directly.

Is a re-pin violating copyright? Who owns the content I post on Facebook? Are clients on my LinkedIn profile still a "trade secret"? For modern organizations, social media is a key component of any internet marketing strategy. However, revolutionary technologies like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest have completely changed traditional ideas of intellectual property, employment obligations, and personal privacy. To keep up with the ever-changing online landscape, social media law is constantly evolving. A new legal frontier that is truly uncharted. Watch this presentation from Jeff Schultz, Partner and Chair of the Social Media Practice Group at Armstrong Teasdale LLP.

Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry. The difference in goals, learning styles and objectives paved the way for differing learning technologies platforms to evolve. Now, those stark lines are blurring as both sides are discovering they have content that’s relevant to the other. Join Tammy Rutherford as she walks through the pros and cons of corporate and higher ed collaborating. And the challenges of these different technology platforms working together for a brighter future.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.
