2. Synopsis
 The musical depicts the arrival of Jesus
and his disciples in Jerusalem, and
ending with the crucifixion. It highlights
political and personal struggles between
Judas, Iscariot, and Jesus.

3. Action prior to “Everything's
Alright”
 Judas is concerned because Jesus is
contradicting his own teaching by
associating with a prostitute named
Mary.
 Jesus tells Judas that unless he is
without sin he should not judge the
character of others.

4. Action during “Everything’s
Alright”
Jesus abandons his followers for being
shallow, thick, and slow and accuses them
of not caring about him.
Mary then tries to assure Jesus that
“Everything’s Alright” while rubbing him
with oil.

5. Action after “Everything’s
Alright”
 Judas is angry because he feels that the
money used to obtain the oil should
have been used to help the poor.
 Jesus sadly explains that he and his
followers do not have the resources to
relieve poverty and that once his
apostles no longer have him, they will
lose their path.

6. Action prior to “Superstar”
 The crucifixion of Jesus is debated
 Pilate asks the crowd and if he should
 He decides that Jesus does not deserve
to die, but he deserves to be tortured
 They give Jesus 39 lashings and he
refuses to fight back

7. Action during “Superstar”
 He is forced to carry the cross to the
point where he will be crucified
 They threw rocks at him while he walked
around town
 They put a crown of thorns on his head
 It is dominated by the repetitive
apologies of Judas for questioning
("Don't you get me wrong", "I only want
to know").

8. Action after “Superstar”
 He is crucified on the cross

9. Action Before “King Herod’s
Song ”
As Jesus is dragged away, the chorus
asks where Jesus’ power has gone.

10. Action During “King Herod’s
Song”
 In a mocking number, King Herod asks
Jesus to prove his divinity by performing
miracles, offering to free him if he
complies.
 Jesus ignores him.

11. Action After “King Herod’s
Song”
 The apostles and Mary Magdalene
remember when they first began
following Jesus, and wish "Could We
Start Again, Please?"
