5. Royal Roads University Leadership 3
Royal Roads University’s MA
in Tourism Management program
has helped me achieve my goal
of carving out a strategic level
of knowledge in the tourism
industry. The studies are real-world oriented
and reflect what is currently happening in the field.
The MATM program was a transformational
experience and today I’m at a whole new level.
RRU is large enough to have all the necessary
resources but small enough to be intimate.
The level of support I received from my instructors
and the administrative staff went far beyond
anything I had experienced at other post-secondary
institutions. When I tell someone I was in an RRU
program, there is an immediate acceptance and
credibility. My schooling has opened many doors.
The MATM
program was a

today I’m at a

BA in International Hotel Management
After spending two years at a Calgary college,
I was ready to complete my degree. Royal Roads
University’s BA in International Hotel Management
came up as a good option because of the condensed,
one-year curriculum; the small class sizes;
and the focus on real-life experiences. Some other
programs I looked at were more like business
degrees with some hotel management offerings;
in comparison, RRU is preparing you to become a hotel
manager working in the industry. At RRU, I found
the instructors were always responsive and ready
to help out at any time: the core faculty members
became mentors, sharing their perspectives and
helping to solve problems, while the associate faculty,
the industry professionals, brought current, real-life
experiences and issues into the classroom. RRUis
