Of Our Promotional Video For Creative Media
The Promotional Video: Creative 
media course

We are hoping to create an interesting promotional video for the creative media course in 
our own college which is the Cheadle campus of the Cheadle and Marple sixth form college. 
We already have an idea of what we want the video to be like and this idea is detailed more 
in the proposal but just as a brief summery we will be filming around the college ICT rooms, 
plus filming a part of a creative media lesson (so that the viewers get a taste of what the 
lesson is  actually like). Then there will be a short interview with a present creative media 
student who will be speaking about the course itself and how they feel about it. Then there 
will be images shown of the college grounds such as the refectory and library etc. 
Project Schedule

The project schedule is important as you need to know exactly what order you should 
do everything in. Below you can see the order in which we are creating our video.
• Planning – By planning everything we will know exactly what we are meant to be               
doing.
• Storyboards – These allow us to see what is going to happen in each scene.
• Proposal – The proposal will tell you as our client what our idea is.
• Filming – Creating the video.
• Editing – Changing and Editing each scene.
• Evaluate – Discussing everything we did, what worked and what didn’t.

The Target Audience
We have made the target audience of our promotional video to be for both present or future 
college students, future students being year elevens who are at the stage of searching for a 
college that is right for them plus a course. Present college students may also not be enjoying 
there course and college that they are at so maybe watching this video will interest them. 
Plus it can be aimed at any student who is really interested in the creative media course or 
thinking of trying it out  but  watching our promotional video will either make them think 
“yes this is the course for me as it looks interesting and I feel I could learn a lot from it”, or 
the complete opposite where they just know straight away it isn't right for them and the 
particular career path that they want to follow. 
Budget

• The budget we have been given is £4,000. With this amount of money 
we should easily make the video work.
• Hiring Equipment to film the video – When it comes to hiring 
equipment there is only a certain amount of equipment that we 
necessarily need such as:
‐ A Computer
‐ Camera
‐ Tripod                     
• There is no reason why we should go over budget – The reason for this 
is that as we are making this video ourselves we don’t need paying and 
there is the only cost of the equipment.
Personnel requirements cast and crew
• When looking at the personal requirements for the cast and crew we realised 
how important there job role in making the premonition video. As a group we 
will be we will be directing the making of the video, as there are three of us in 
the group we will all be taking different job roles in making the video. The 
different job roles that we will taking , setting the scene, filming, editing and 
putting the video together.  
• In the group we are going to be doing all the job roles together so that we get a 
go at each different part in making the video.

Our Team
We have been working in a group of three since we started planning the video, as a 
group we have completed a range of task for the planning of the video, which ranged 
from looking at other promotional videos so that we could make sure that our video 
was interesting and eye catching, then we looked at different types of briefs so that 
we know what type of promotional material we needed to use. We then created the 
project schedule so that you could see what stages of making the video we were at 
different dates and it will also help us to stay on target. we  also needed to complete 
some risk assessments which showed back up plans and health and safety issues and 
to ensure the project is completed on time. Deciding where we are going to be 
filming the video was important because we needed to make sure that it was 
suitable for all parts of the video whether it was in or out doors. The last stages of 
the planning was to do the sketches, script and mood board so that you could see 
what fonts and  colures we were using.

Throughout the video we 
will be having different 
transitions added to each 
different page, we will 
change the transitions 
around as we don't want 
the exact same one on 
every page. We will also be 
having music running 
throughout the 
background. We don't quite 
know yet what we want to 
include in the video when it 
comes to music but we will 
be thinking in great detail 
towards this as we want to 
have a productive upbeat 
backing track.
