2. I’ve created three different
scenarios, each with an
increased amount of waste
recovered. Each is either
equal to or less than
$200,000.
3. With all programs, except the home
recycling pick-up, there is a cost of less than
200,000, with 64 tons of waste recovered
4. This time, I left out the reuse center and the
home yard trimmings pick-up. I also
upgraded the home recycling pick-up to
pick up more recyclables. I’ve saved 94 tons
of waste with this combination.
5. Leaving out the drop-off recycling
center, the rest of the programs allowed me
to max out on the allocated $200,000, while
recovering the most waste yet, 100 tons.
6. The “grass-recycling” actually saved money, as
well as the home composting.
Two other ways to reduce city waste are 1)
adopt a xeriscaping policy for all public
buildings and 2) reduce business’s liability
towards wasted food, thus allowing gleaners
to benefit from the business’s “un-sell-able”
product.
