Your application must be typed, in no smaller than 12 point font, and include the following:
1. Overview- brief description of your program and community- limited to one page
(25 points)
a. Community information- population, rural/urban, type of agriculture, etc
b. Program information- number and type of students, courses and pathways offered,
special things about program
c. Vision for Ag Program
2. Teaching Philosophy- limited to one page (25 points)
a. Why and how you teach
b. How you help all students achieve at high levels
c. Innovative teaching practices
d. Integration of FFA and SAE
e. Community Partnerships
f. Marketing of the Program (including students from diverse backgrounds, non-farm
backgrounds, and special populations)
2. Supporting Materials- limited to 4 pages. This may include photos, news articles, etc.
(25 points)
3. Letters of Reference- three letters of reference should be included- one from an administrator, one
from region chair of the KAAE, and one from a community member, one from a former student who
was in the teacher’s classes and FFA . (graduated no longer than 5 years) (25 points)
2. All application materials should be neatly bound in a folder and submitted to Matt Chaliff by the
deadline. (Please do NOT use page protectors.) All region winners earn $200 gift cards, state
winner earns $1000
