-First we must know what anxiety is. Anxiety is a disorder where
people constantly worry about bad things happening. Anxiety can be
in the form of phobia or paranoia.
Effects
-Most effects caused by anxiety aren’t from the anxiety itself, but
from the medication used to cure it. Some of these side effects
could be allergic reactions, depression, and nausea.
-though there aren’t many side effects caused by the anxiety, there
are some.

-causes for anxiety can be from internal, mental factors or from
outside environmental factors.
-Environmental:
Abuse, work stress, school stress, financial stress, and stress from
disasters.
Mental:
-Medicine side effects, mental illness, and lack of oxygen

Depression:
Depression is state of mood that has a negative impact on your
thoughts and behavior.
Causes:
Causes of depression almost always come from outside factors.
Some of these are: loss of a loved one, stress, conflict (physical or
mental), and addictions.
Effects:
There arent many effects of depression, but they are all really
severe. These are: Discouragement, sadness, irritability, stress,
anxiety, and the most dangerous; suicide.

A teen who develops an eating disorder feels shame, disgust, and
anger about their body. They are usually under a lot of stress.
There are two main types of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa
and bulimia nervosa. Both are characterized by excessive concern
about one's weight and shape and a negative, distorted body
image.
Eating disorders are not a fad diet or an experiment to lose weight,
but they are serious complex disorders that can take many years to
recover from.
67% of the patients with an eating disorder and a history of suicide
attempts suffered from depression before the onset of the eating
disorder, and only 3% of the patients with an eating disorder and no
history of suicide attempts suffered from depression before the
onset of the eating disorder.

While the cause of suicide is unknown, some common
risk factors include:
•major psychiatric illness - in particular, mood
disorders (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder,
schizophrenia)
• substance abuse (primarily alcohol abuse)
•family history of suicide
•long term difficulties with relationships with friends
and family
•losing hope or the will to live
•significant losses in a person's life, such as the death
of a loved one, loss of an important relationship, loss
of employment or self-esteem

Warning signs for suicide- A person who is at risk of committing
suicide usually shows signs - whether consciously or
unconsciously - that something is wrong. Keep an eye out for:
•signs of clinical depression
•withdrawal from friends and family
•sadness and hopelessness
•lack of interest in previous activities, or in what is going on
around them
•physical changes, such as lack of energy, different sleep
patterns, change in weight or appetite
•loss of self-esteem, negative comments about self-worth
•bringing up death or suicide in discussions or in writing
•previous suicide attempts
•getting personal affairs in order, such as giving away
possessions, or having a pressing interest in personal wills or life

EMOTIONAL MOOD SWINGS IN TEENS?
Drug Abuse- Teenagers that experiment with drugs and alcohol
are most likely to display mood swings. Drugs like marijuana often
disrupts mood causing a range of feelings from happiness to
depression. Marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy leads to addiction,
which further impacts mood and behavior. Alcohol is also
commonly used by teens that may also result in emotional
swings.
Depression- when a teenager feels irritable and/or hopeless; it
may allude into teen depression. Depression is basically
magnified mood swings that last over a long period of time.
Puberty- Puberty signifies physical and emotional changes. Your
hormones change, which magnifies your mood causing mood swings.
Traumatizing Events- suicidal thoughts may lead to intensified mood
swings. Dramatic family events or problems may also.
