1. Google Penguin Update 2.0 #4 - How to Recover Your Site?
The much awaited and anticipated penguin 2.0 #4 has been finally released on May 22,
2013 and has become the latest buzzword in the SEO town. As announced by Matt cuts in
one of his recent videos, this latest penguin release is the new generation of algorithms
aimed to make a big impact on web spam.
The previous version of penguin, penguin 1.0, was released on April 24, 2012 and
impacted around 3.1 percent of queries. Following it two small updates were rolled out
on May 26, 2012 and October 5, 2012 respectively. But, penguin 2.0 #4 is more
comprehensive and powerful than its predecessor.
Penguin 2.0 is designed for?
The roll out of penguin 2.0 #4 is complete and it has affected 2.3% of English-U.S. queries
to the extent that even an average user may notice. The latest penguin version has
affected other languages as well. As said by Cutts in his recent blog-post, “languages with
more web spam will see more impact.”
Google Penguin 2.0 is designed to make deeper and more intense impact on web pages
that contain spam. Some webmasters and SEOs have a misconception that penguin 1.0
impacted only home page of the websites and penguin 2.0 impacts on all pages of the
websites. The word ‘deeper’ has been misunderstood by many; it has nothing to do with
website architecture, but it conveys how it will impact the web in general.
As anticipated, many webmasters have witnessed increase in keyword ranking and many

updates in this next generation algorithm.
Recently after the update, many webmaster started reporting spam low quality sites
ranking in top 10 results via ‘Spam Report Form’ introduced by Google web spam
engineer Matt cutts.

Have you been hit by Penguin 2.0?
On May 24, 2013, Dr-pete of Moz Blog community came up with some really interesting
figures, graphs and information revealing how effective penguin 2.0 #4 was actually in
his blog-post.
Here is a screen-shot from the blog-post:
3. It shows that retailers and real estate websites have seen the highest downfall. However,
the update isn’t too big as it was expected by many SEOs and webmasters. If you are
using original and unique content on all your web pages, then you really don’t have to
worry about anything. Except that you don’t want to keep writing the same stuff over and
over again. Moreover, if you are using back links from spam websites or adult website,
then there are chances that you might have hit by this penguin update.
How to overcome from Penguin 2.0 Effect?
If your site has been hit by Google’s latest update, there can be any or all three reasons
behind it:
Poor backlinks
Low quality content
Exact match anchor text
Now the million-dollar question is how you can recover your website from Google
penguin penalty?
4. Review your link profile and remove all low-quality, broken and non-relevant site
backlinks.
Redefine your link building strategy to ensure you get good quality backlinks only
through natural ways. You may hire SEO consultant India to help you revamp your
link profile.
Taking into account the fact that social media signals’ importance has been increased
by Google’s latest penguin update, it is high time to link all your social media activity
to your web pages. It is recommended that you post regularly on your social media
pages, engage with your prospects and expand your social media network.
Create 100% unique, original and quality content. Make sure your content is useful,
interesting and sharable. Guest blogging is one of the best ways to get natural links.
Create videos, infographics, user-guides, white papers, etc. that people love to read
and share. This will automatically bring you top-quality links and ultimately high
ranking in Google search results.
