No Longer Empty (NLE) presents site-specific public art exhibitions to widen access to contemporary art. The organization transforms unused spaces and brings artists, educators, and the public together to create and experience art for free, without the constraints of traditional galleries. The presentation encourages students to identify underused spaces in their own communities and create projects to transform them.
1. The core mission of
No Longer Empty is to
widen the audience for
contemporary art by
presenting high-caliber,
site-specific public art
exhibitions.
This presentation was first used as an intro to
NLE exhibitions, but I’ve added a couple slides
to the end of the presentation so that these
ideas can be used at the end of a unit of study
for an NLE show…where students extend the
concepts of the organization into their own
lives, creating projects that transform unused
or under-utilized spaces in their own
communities. Contact me if you need some
basic resources for this assignment.
2. No Longer Empty's (NLE) works
to positively impact communities
and community corridors with
each of their exhibitions. NLE
creates a welcoming and accessible
cultural and educational hub where
artists, educators, scholars and the
public come together to create and
experience art.
This experience is free of charge,
and free of the restraints usually
connected to other art spaces like
galleries and museums
