Creating OER Materials
                                           1. Select departmental OER
                                                   coordinator!
                                            Each CHS department appoints an
                                            OER project coordinator to oversee
                                              OER development within the
2. Identify authors & topics!                         department.
   The OER project coordinator
 convenes a departmental meeting
 with lecturers and the OER media
 specialists to identify authors and
          topics for OER. !

                                        3. Develop content !
                               The media specialists schedule an appointment
                                   with the faculty members to develop the
                                   resource. This often entails filming a lab
                                 demonstration or surgical procedure. During
                               this step, the doctor or media specialists solicit
                                   consent from all those to be filmed (e.g.,

Creating OER Materials

                         4. Edit!
       The media specialists make any
     necessary edits to audio and video,!
     looking for any technical, copyright
          or privacy concerns in the
                  resource.!




                                            5. Package!
                                      The media specialists
                                     package the OER into an
                                    HTML template and onto a
                                     DVD with a cover label. !

                                6. Review by authors!
                                The authoring lecturers
                                          and
                               others in the department
                                  review the OER for
                               accuracy and pedagogy.!

    Repeat as necessary!                                  7. Distribute within CHS!
  Depending on the feedback,                              The resource is distributed to

  • 4. Creating OER Materials 1. Select departmental OER coordinator! Each CHS department appoints an OER project coordinator to oversee OER development within the 2. Identify authors & topics! department. The OER project coordinator convenes a departmental meeting with lecturers and the OER media specialists to identify authors and topics for OER. ! 3. Develop content ! The media specialists schedule an appointment with the faculty members to develop the resource. This often entails filming a lab demonstration or surgical procedure. During this step, the doctor or media specialists solicit consent from all those to be filmed (e.g., CC-BY-NC Chris Andrew Yebuah students, lecturers, patients). !
  • 5. Creating OER Materials 4. Edit! The media specialists make any necessary edits to audio and video,! looking for any technical, copyright or privacy concerns in the resource.! 5. Package!   • 6. Creating OER Materials 6. Review by authors! The authoring lecturers and others in the department review the OER for accuracy and pedagogy.! Repeat as necessary! 7. Distribute within CHS! Depending on the feedback, The resource is distributed to the OER media specialists may CHS students via DVD or need to re-film or re-edit through restricted local access components of the module.! on the UG OER site. ! 8.
