The document presents a research study that aims to investigate the relationship between a religion's attitude toward spirit possession and its followers' racial prejudices. Specifically, it hypothesizes that dualistic religions like UCKG that explicitly admonish evil spirits may influence followers to adopt a dualistic view of race, whereas more holistic religions like Umbanda that acknowledge different spirit types may cultivate tolerance. The study will conduct interviews and observations with children and adults from both religions to understand perspectives on spirits and experiences with racial prejudice. Findings could provide insights into psychological motivations behind racial discrimination.
