2. Background noise
Background noise is barrier to communication, examples of background noise
range from other peoples voices, cars, planes etc. These noises can lead to
people getting distracted and not concentrating. To reduce the effects of
background noise you can buy noise cancelling headphones, these block out any
background noise therefore the user can fully concentrate without being
distracted.

3. Lack of Communication
Lack of communication is another example of a barrier, this is when the
person you are tying to communicate with doesn’t talk when needed to and
when they do they use very little detail making it hard to understand and gain
information from them. Ways of getting over this barrier are; ask the person a
open question therefore they need to expand on there answer and add more
information, take the person out of their comfort zone therefore they need to
communicate to get over their insecurities etc.

4. Physical Barrier
Physical barrier is another example of a barrier, there are different types of
physical barriers for example distance; this could be when you and a friend are
trying to communicate from one house to another over the phone, this means
the communication wont be as effective as it would be face to face. Another
example of a physical barrier is the environment; for example if you are trying
to have a conversation in a thunder storm then both of you wont be able to
fully concentrate on what each other is saying with is not effective
communication.

5. Loss by Transmission
Loss by transmission is another example of a barrier to communication for
example if you have sent a detailed message to someone but it has been
passed through a series of transmissions then the message the person
receives is likely to be less detailed and will probably miss most of the
important information.

6. Poor listening
Poor listening is a barrier to communication, an example of this is when you
are trying to explain something to someone and they aren’t concentrating or
failing to take all the information in because they struggle to take in a lot of
information at once. If the listener isn’t interested in what your saying then
they’re not going to pay attention and will drift off get distracted by
something.

7. Poor speaker
Poor speaker is a barrier to communication, for example if a poor speaker
needs explain something then they will tend to talk about something similar
to the main objective of what they need to explain therefore they will drag on
what they’re trying to explain leading to people becoming not interested and
bored. A poor speaker might be uncomfortable with speaking to people
therefore they could mumble or talk about something random meaning lack
of communication.

8. Cultural barrier
Cultural barrier is another barrier, for example if you are having a business
meeting with a Japanese person and you haven’t learnt to adapt to other
cultures then communication between you will be less effective and can
become awkward. For example Japanese people greet by bowing whereas if
your English you greet with a handshake so if you go to give a Japanese person
a handshake and they bow instead then already the communication between
you is effected by this and the conversation could become awkward.

9. Language barrier
Language barrier is another barrier, for example if your business has a lot of
technical language or is heavy in jargon trying to speak to and outsider of the
company who wont understand these will struggle to understand you and will
fail to take information in which will ruin the communication and could cause
him to feel uncomfortable and awkward.
