3. Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg has made some of the greatest movies of all time
including:
Jaws
ET
Raiders Of The Lost Ark
The Color Purple
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Schindler’s List
And the list, so to speak, goes on and on forever.
If there is anybody who you want to listen to, it’s Spielberg. Here are 5
of his most important tips that he revealed in an interview.
1. Overcome your fears.
“He was scared of just about everything,” recalls Leah Adler,
Spielberg’s mother. “When trees brushed against the house, he would
head into my bed.”
Spielberg says that conquering your fears is one of the most important
things you can do. There are going to be a lot of people out there who
are going to tell you that making movies is too hard and that you have
to be lucky to make it. They’ll do everything they can to discourage
you. This is one of the main reasons for fear. According to Spielberg,
you need to block out this negativity and convince yourself that you
can do this.
Sounds corny? Tell that to Spielberg to his face.
Spielberg himself was rejected by a big film school at UCLA. Instead of
giving in to his fear, he enrolled in California State University. When he
only got a C in the course, he wondered if he was good enough. Again,
the fear set in. But he overcame it…obviously.
2. Know Where to Draw the Line
One thing that Spielberg learned early on is that you can’t tell people
what to do. You have to trust their instincts. In other words, that
4. means letting the actors go through their paces and lines. Only step in
when you NEED to step in. This isn’t about YOU. It’s about the whole
production and you have to learn to trust those who you are working
with.
3. Find Inspiration Around You
From a very early age, Spielberg learned to get inspiration from
everything around him. He didn’t discount anything at all. Sometimes
his ideas didn’t work. Not everything you come up with is going to be a
success. But by allowing yourself to be inspired by your surroundings,
you give yourself the best chance of coming up with fresh, new ideas.
4. Push Your Limits
As you probably know, most of Spielberg’s early films were science
fiction and fantasy. It was safe and comfortable for him. But he admits
that he didn’t really push himself to his limits until he made Schindler’s
List. This was a big departure for him and it worked.
He says that when you push yourself beyond what you think you can
do, it really makes you feel alive. You’re never going to grow as a film
making if you keep playing it safe.
5. Follow Your Passion
“The only time I’m totally happy is when I’m watching films or making
them,” says Spielberg.
You have to create a movie that you want to create BECAUSE you
want to create it. If you do something just for the sake of doing it or
because you think it’s going to be commercial, you’re not going to do
your best work.
In the movie making business, Spielberg believes that you have to be
passionate about what you’re doing.
5. Some Final Words
Naturally, the film makers mentioned in this report are the best of the
best. But they didn’t get there overnight. Nobody, not even Hitchcock,
was born with these smarts. They had to develop them just like
everybody else.
Below, you will find a great resource that, while it might not make you
the next Hitchcock overnight, will certainly give you the kind of
foundation you need to develop into a truly great film maker someday.
Here is the site so you can check it out.
NO BUDGET FILM MAKING
Making films is one of the most enjoyable things you can do with your

you could be the next Spielberg, Tarantino, or even Hitchcock.
Hey…anything is possible if you believe.
