Notas do Editor
I will read certain stories out of this book to my students. The book is very detailed and describes animals in their daily life's and habits. This can be used to pick out adaptations for animals. I will read them a story and then they will have to pick out an adaptation mentioned in the book and as a group tell me why that animal may have that adaptation.
This book is a book that I can give my students as an extension assignment. They will learn about habitats and this book is on a level where most if not all the students in the class will be able to read this at an independent level.
This book describes Giant Pandas in their everyday life and their characteristics. This book will be used to introduce the case study part of the unit. Each student will have their own animal that they will have to draw, classify and pick out adaptations for, I will model this process with the Giant Panda and the information from the book.
Endanger Animals talks about the animals that are endangered. This book can reinforce the environment and how it effects animals. This can help students understand the characteristics that the animals lacks to survive.
Camouflage in general is a topic I’m using to introduce the students to adaptations. This book talks about all the different kinds of camouflage and is at a level appropriate for about half the students in the class to be on an independent level.
This book describes mammals characteristics and specific animals. This book will be used as a resource for me for my lesson on mammals and also the students case studies.
This book describes amphibians characteristics and specific animals. This book will be used as a resource for me for my lesson on amphibians and also the students case studies.
This book describes reptiles characteristics and specific animals. This book will be used as a resource for me for my lesson on reptiles and also the students case studies.
This book describes fish characteristics and specific animals. This book will be used as a resource for me for my lesson on fish and also the students case studies.
This book describes birds characteristics and specific animals. This book will be used as a resource for me for my lesson on birds and also the students case studies.
This book describes insects characteristics and specific animals. This book will be used as a resource for me for my lesson on insects and also the students case studies.
This book talks about camouflage but it is on a level where students can read during independent reading to reinforce the concepts of adaptation and camouflage.
This book will be read to the students when discussing the frog life cycle. I will introduce the frog life cycle by reading this book and then leaving it out for students to read on their own. I picked this book because here are pictures in the book of each stage which is helpful for students to hear and see.
This book will be read to the students when discussing the butterfly life cycle. I will introduce the butterfly life cycle by reading this book and then leaving it out for students to read on their own. I picked this book because there are pictures in the book of each stage which is helpful for students to hear and see.
