2. Snowboarding
Snowboarding can be a
challenging sport. Skiers
who have switched to
snowboarding often say that
they find it even more
difficult than skiing. I’m here
to offer some tips to those
who like to snowboard. I
really do enjoy the sport so I
want to help those who
need help. Here are my top
five tips when it comes to
snowboarding!
3. Tip #1: When you are first learning to snowboard,
always keep your hands in a fist.
I’m going to be honest and
frank to those of you who have
never snowboarded. You will
fall! Falling is just a part of
learning the sport.A broken
wrist is the most common
injury for first time
snowboarders. There’s a
proper way to fall in
snowboarding for a beginner.
When you fall backward punch
the snow and sit on your butt.
By following this technique,
you'll reduce the risk of injury
to your wrist.
4. Tip # 2: To move up the slope, inch your way up while
both feet are attached to the board.
For the beginner on the bunny hill,
moving up the slope can
complicated. You'll have to assume
a frog like position. Begin inch
worming by moving your arms
forward. Then, extend your legs.
The trickiest part of moving up the
slope is that you need to pull your
legs towards you similar to a frog’s
motion when it hops without moving
your arms. It’s tricky but constant
practice will help you. Mastery of
this skill will allow you to move up
the slope with your snowboard still
attached to your feet.
5. Tip # 3: When you are steering, you need to pivot the board around a
point midway between the bindings.
Steering can be tricky.
Move your feet
interdependently. You
should twist your front foot
in the direction of the turn
while pushing the rear foot
away from the turn.Keep in
mind though that if you are
on a steeper slope, the
midway point may be
further forward or
backward as you steer.
6. Tip # 4:To switch edges, roll on your side while your
feet are attached to the board.
Often snowboarders find
themselves on the wrong
edge. Generally, you would
have to unfasten the
snowboard bindings, turn
around, and attach the
bindings to your feet. This
tip may save you the trouble
of doing this though.By
following this tip, you will
save yourself some time
and get more time on the
slope!
7. Tip # 5: In doing a Rock-n-Roll Grind, you need to keep
the board parallel to the rail while grinding.
My favorite trick
involves grinding.Make
sure you practice your
ollies if you’re doing
this trick. Approach
and timing are
essential!
8. Conclusion and Thanks
I hope this experience
makes your
experience in
snowboarding much
easier. It can be
challenging at first but
snowboarding is a fun
sport. Always keep
safety in mind but go
big!
