Key points of slide - The 3 slides (page6, 7, 8) make audiences understand that Cloud Computing is not technical revolution, it is the business revolution. - Use the history of electric power supply as a good example to explain what’s happen in Cloud Computing Area. --- Let me talk more about the Cloud Computing. Here’s a photo of an old electric power generator at a brewery. Back in the 1800’s this beer maker had to build their own electric generation capacity. It didn’t make the beer taste better—no one cared about their electricity, they just wanted good beer. That’s why companies started using the electric power grid. Most people have this today—it’s called your servers or datacenters.
Now you can use electric power very easy : just plug-in. Large scale central power station and reliable electric power grid have made it easy.
Now same situation is happening in the Cloud Computing. “ Worldwide scale Data Center in the cloud” and “reliable and broadband network” make your businesses easy.
Key of the slide: - AWS has both merit: “the advantage of Cloud Computing” and “interoperability with existing resources” === Revised Script: The one uniqueness about AWS is that it’s designed to work with you applications as is. You do not need to make any modifications to them or have them adhere to any particular protocol in order they work with the cloud. Its designed that you can put your applications on for all, or part of the time, and put them back on your servers if you wish. While PaaS and SaaS work like AWS where users pay as you go, the interoperability for AWS makes it more flexible for our customers. === As you can see. AWS has the typical future of cloud computing - scalability and pay-as-you-go. In addition, AWS has interoperability with existing applications, data, and resources. It means AWS is easy to use with existing environment. AWS has both merit: “the advantage of Cloud Computing” and “interoperability with existing resources” Now a lot of enterprise customers have interest in building a Hybrid-Cloud system. AWS is the best solution for the needs.

Key of the slide: Show the typical use cases of the cloud computing. == Here is the typical use cases of the cloud computing. Bottom of the left side: This is a typical computing resource of Social Applications, like a MIXI applications, and on-line games. The demand peak is changing so frequently and rapidly. The gap of the peak and off-peak are huge. The traditional computing resources, like a purchasing their own servers / using the Data Center as fixed monthly payment, don’t work for the case efficiently. Top of the right side: This is a typical computer resource usage of enterprise applications, like a batch process, and HR /accounting /payroll apps which have the closing date. Traditional way was that purchasing the servers to meet the peak. It means that there are a lot of “waste” resources in the off peak. According to our research, average usage ratio of the servers in enterprise is about 15 – 20 %. It is obviously not efficient way.
Key of the slide: - Show our commitment to Japanese market === How was the demo? I believe you can feel that “the cloud is real”. Now AWS is focusing on Japanese market. This is very similar situation with Amazon Japan who started the business here 10 years ago. We have already had customers, partners, and user community here. - As you may know. We are expanding our data center in APAC. - We have Japanese staff (Ojima) and Tokyo office for AWS business. Official developer community has already run as a part of eco-system. And we are focusing on expanding business partners, we call Solution Provider, as another part of our eco-system.
